Below is a repost & exactly what I have been speaking about, I noticed it last year when I ran for council & this year the liberal candidates who are for city council being an opposition party are boasting about it on social media for all to see That's not what city council is about We can do better If anyone from these residential communities that I have been excluded from, so far from social media & emails, I can see that it's Fairlanes, Concerto Westralian, Adagio, Reflections, Vue Tower, City Tower & 2 Saint Georges And another event at Frasier suites If any of you who have been mislead to believe that there are only 3 candidates, when there are actually 5 this year, would like to ask me anything or if you'd like to meet me, I can also put you in touch with the other excluded candidate, Jason Bo, because that's the right thing to do, please email daveinperth@outlook.com Some East Perth residents have been duped with just 2 weeks to go in the @cityofperth Extraordinary Election … I’ve been informed that a misleading flyer was sent to all residents of at least one East Perth apartment building on Tuesday 24 September 2024. The flyer stated: “Get to Know the representatives supporting the East Perth Precinct. You are invited to meet those Candidates at a function on Thursday 26 September 2024 …”. The flyer proceeded to name just three candidates – Steve Wellard, Shirley Vine and Adam Pacan. The implication being that just these three candidates were supporting East Perth. While Steve Wellard, a Liberal party member who lives in North Perth, was on the list. Strangely East Perth resident Jason Bo was left off the list. Also left off the list was David Lee. Both Jason and David have been actively campaigning on matters of interest to East Perth. I have been told at the event were people from Westralian - Adagio - Reflections – Vue Tower – City Tower – Concerto – Fairlanes - 2 Saint Georges / 8 Victoria Avenue If you know anyone who lives in those apartment buildings I encourage you to let them know they’ve been duped. #honesty #transparency #perthcity #eastperth #westperth #perthcbd #northbridge #nedlands #crawley #perthcommunity

We don’t normally give much credence to Daily Telegraph towns rankings, as they tend to be pretty subjective. But this week’s list of Britain’s prettiest and ugliest towns does show an interesting trend in their analysis of the worst towns. Three of the top four ranked as the ugliest towns (Cumbernauld, Telford and Slough) are new towns and the language that’s used to explain their inclusion in this list is pretty excoriating. Whether its Telford’s “risible personality free architecture”, “dour retail parks and cookie-cutter urban sprawl” or Cumbernauld’s “concrete savaged centre” described as “soulless and inaccessible, something like Eastern Europe before the wall came down”, the message is clear: towns with no clear identity to speak of are struggling. This is particularly timely, as the Government is about to unleash a host of new towns and the New Towns Taskforce call for evidence closes next week. We are all firm supporters of the Government’s ambitious housing targets – and applaud Keir Starmer’s piece in the Times this week, which challenges Whitehall, Councils and housebuilders to raise their ambitions. But in the process we need to make sure we don’t rush to make the same mistakes as the past. That means new towns aren’t just functional places. They need to be what people want and have a clear identity, sense of place and soul. And let’s not forget what Nye Bevan, one of Labour’s most celebrated figures, once cautioned. “While we shall be judged for a year or two by the number of houses we build, we shall be judged in 10 years’ time by the type of houses we build.” If we get new towns right we will not only strengthen Britain’s identity and sense of belonging. We may also turn the page on an era of concrete monstrosities and put the Carbuncle Cup out of its misery. #Newtowns #housing #regeneration #community #placemaking

A recent vote DENIED the Inglewood Transit Connector (ITC) the funding it needs to move forward, casting doubt on its future. This 1.7-mile project would connect Inglewood’s light rail to its professional sports venues. The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG)—a 16-city coalition managing Measure R and Measure M transportation tax revenues—declined Inglewood Mayor James Butts' request for $493 million to close a funding gap, according to the Los Angeles Times. “We’ve funded a huge portion of this already,” said Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor John Cruikshank. “They were asking for even more. And to me, I just can’t see us giving any more. It’s going to tap us out." Alongside leadership from El Segundo, Gardena, Hermosa Beach, and other South Bay cities, Cruikshank cited the project’s high price tag as a concern. The vote also jeopardizes the $1 billion in federal funding awarded in January, given the council’s previous $358 million contribution. Additional funding would have required the council to make exceptions to its Measure R cap of $250 million per project. @rams owner Stan Kroenke and @laclippers owner Steve Ballmer, who invested heavily in Inglewood sports venues, initially backed the ITC but withdrew support as plans showed the elevated rail line would cross their properties, potentially impacting venue operations. Envision Inglewood’s website shares, the ITC project is a fully elevated, 1.6-mile automated transit system with three new stations in Inglewood. This eco-friendly, electrically powered project aims to reduce traffic, create well-paying jobs, and boost both local and regional economies. By addressing the crucial “first/last mile” gap, the ITC would connect Greater Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment District, a hub for employment and visitors alike. Do you think the cities should continue to fund the project until completion? That’s all well and good and I agree something needs to be done with The Grand but there are fundamental issues that need fixing first. Scarborough has a massive pothole issue and the council seems to think that filling the holes with gravel will fix the problem. There’s a massive issue with drainage in Falsgrave park causing it to be either a bog or an ice rink. The council won’t grit it in the winter for fear of liability if someone has an accident, in the meantime, residents, especially the older generation fear taking a walk in the winter because they don’t want to fall. The A64 has had “talks” about it being a dual carriage way for years, when will this become a reality? There’s plots of land/warehouse at the back of Morrison’s that would be ideal for rock climbing/ice rink/trampoline centre to encourage residents and visitors all year round. What will be done about the fact there are Poundlands and charity shops but nowhere to encourage locals to shop local building a sustainable local economy? Surely these are issues that should be tackled before injecting millions of, presumably tax payers’ money into a project that will take years to come to fruition or is this a project for you purely to attract voters?
𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫. The choice is between the bold action we need, or more of the same. Others will stand by as our heritage disintegrates. I will rescue it. They’ll accept decline. I’ll reverse it. I have a grand plan for Scarborough. This isn’t a hotel renovation, it’s a revolution. And this isn’t just about one town. It’s an example of the level of my ambition for North Yorkshire. Eyesores transformed at long last. Civic pride restored. The high street brought back to life. 🗳️ Thursday’s vote will determine the future of Scarborough, and our whole county.
