My favorite day building the set was the day that we framed the walls. Framing goes up really fast and it is very rewarding to see the progress. We all were able to work on the framing as the young children were able to lay out the boards and the middle children were able to screw the frames together. That was a really fun day and we were all filled with enthusiastic energy as we worked on the beginnings of the Fabiola prison set. Another thing about this day that was fun was that we had the building to ourselves and it was already quite messy because the "Water House", (the nickname we gave the building due to the little ones' mispronunciation of Water Oz) was being remodeled. It was easy to feel at home in the building that was less than put together and only a few construction workers were there at any given time. The worst day was when we tore down the set. It took us three months to build and three hours to disassemble. The building had other uses and we knew that we would not be able to use it as a studio on a long term basis. The space was generously donated to the project by Ryan Uhlenkott but it would eventually be used as the office building for Advanced Welding and Steel. Having the funds to rent a space will ensure that no time will be wasted in building sets and disassembling. We can use time and money much more efficiently if we can recostume existing sets. It’s a sorry state of affairs to learn that a local school hasn’t got the budget to buy DT materials. This is a subject close to our hearts, being in the industry that we are in. DT allows school children to learn skills for the future, problem solve, and explore materials, processes, and tools. DT, Woodwork and engineering at school are 1 of the reasons Vertex exist. They need wood offcuts to allow them to make things like bird boxes or light boxes. They also need donations of dowels for moving objects, colored sticky-back vinyl, and thin cast acrylic for clocks. Not only will our donations enrich pupils' lessons, but we will also be repurposing leftover materials—it’s a no-brainer! Whilst we are busy building at #farnboroughairshow we set Jet the task of collecting the off cuts and (ruff) timber and keep them safe for delivery on our return. We've already established you can build just about anything with cold-formed steel. This particular artifact isn't exactly a sculpture, but something quite a bit more utilitarian. What's good for buildings is also good for furniture, and in this particular case, bunkbeds. Our Haiti-based customer, Durable Building Systems, led by Laurent de Matteis, is actively participating in local humanitarian initiatives. In this particular engagement with a charity organization, Development for Freedom International, DBS constructed over 80 bunkbeds for the centers housing school children. The bunkbeds were modeled, just like many steel homes worldwide, in our Scotsteel software and produced using Scottsdale's Scotpanel 7090 steel framing machine using the direct link with ScotRF. What a noble and worthwhile effort! We are proud to be a part of it. Check out our latest piece made from a donated picture frame! . 💡PRO TIPS💡 Lay the frame face down when attaching the lights. We also recommend *taping* the lights into a zigzag pattern before stapling it. This gives you the freedom to adjust the spacing as needed. . We chose to tape the battery pack to the frame instead of gluing it. That way, we can switch out the lights if we want to for a different occasion. Also, don’t feel like you have to use lights. Plain wire or string work just as well as long as it’s pulled taut. . #diyframe #creativereuse 

New non-partisan rule: all politicians should henceforth be banned from announcing that 'if elected, we will build x number of new houses'. What do you mean 'we'? What exactly are YOU building? The closest you will get to building a new house is putting on a construction vest (probably backwards) and a hard hat so that you can do a photo-op. Meanwhile, carpenters, roofers, electricians, plumbers, drywallers, concrete finishers, HVAC specialists, framers, and painters will do the actual building of houses. At best, your role in the process will be to (a) redirect taxpayer money towards this purpose and (b) try and remove a few regulatory obstacles that you probably put in place to begin with. Precise language matters. Oh, and the punishment for this newly created offence is that every time you make this claim, your party must donate $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity. 🏡As many people are preparing to list their homes for sale this summer, we have the honor and privilege of helping with a lot of the initial decluttering before staging and packing can even begin. A recent client asked us to tackle several rooms in her home including the 👩🏽🍳kitchen in a matter of 2 hours by one member of #TeamIJS. Biggest tips and take aways? 🍇Always find the low hanging fruit first and in this case it was the stuff on the floors and counter. It gave us the ability to then dive into the cabinets and drawers and pull out what was going to be donated or thrown out. 🗑️Immediately remove donations and trash from the space or your brain will continue to only see clutter and not a clearing. 🗄️Make sure there is enough space in the cabinets and drawers to temporarily contain stuff on the counter that you use on a daily basis but don't want out for any Realtor showings. 🖼️And don't forget about taking anything on your refrigerator (photos, magnets, etc.) off the surfaces, as well as remove anything that has been collecting dust on top of the refrigerator or use a basket to "corral" everything for a more aesthetically appealing visual, but still give you access to whatever you put inside it. #GarageOrganization #HomeOrganization #Declutter #TransformYourSpace #ItsJustStuff #professionalorganizer #downsizing #homeorganizer #clutter #organizing
