Why do some people feel anxious and “not safe” and others feel calm, grounded and have deep trust in themselves? Why do some people know exactly what they want and can express it while others have no idea or don’t believe they deserve it? Why do some people take confident and courageous action towards what they want and others hide and feel small? Why do some people celebrate their progress while others best themselves up and know they could’ve and should’ve done better? It’s all based on the strength or weakness of specific levels of consciousness that were developed and reinforced at specific times in our lives. As babies we learned to be safe and loved (or not) As toddlers we learned what we want and don’t want and whether it was ok to express it As children we fearlessly went after what we wanted or stayed invisible As adults we live a life based on what happened at those earlier times It’s quite fascinating and I’m honored to now be trained how to guide my clients to strengthen their “being” at all of these levels so they feel safe, secure and calm, know exactly what they want and feel deserving of it, take courageous action to get what they want and cheer themselves on all along the way without beating themselves up or feeling like they could or should be better or further along. New beta group coming soon! I can’t wait! For more details, drop a YES below.

We are in a joy crisis With the US election, war, terrorism, injustice, inequality, attacks left and right on our basic human rights, and good ol' fashion normal day-to-day stress (just because there is some seriously evil shiz goin' down, does not mean we aren't still totally exhausted by the basic stresses of keeping ourselves, our animals and our small humans alive and well and getting where we're all supposed to be on time, fed and semi-presentable)... Many of us feel like we're barely getting by. But most of us also feel like we have too much to do to wallow in sadness, grief or stay frozen by the desperation and helplessness we feel... We need to fuel ourselves and others with joy to sustain our ability to cope and create change. If there's one thing we could all use right now in a world that feels like it's lost its damn mind, it's a bit more easy access to joy. To feel a bit more peaceful... more empowered... and honestly, to feel more in control. So as a first step in helping us each inch closer to joy first living and working (and further away from the fear and frazzle), next week I'm going to give you my #1 joy hack... my fool proof first step out of the joy crisis, focusing only on what you can actually control: A deep-dive into color and how to turn it into 'easy access joy' at work and at home. JOIN ME LIVE NEXT WEEK: https://lnkd.in/eDW2-DeK If you've taken our color quiz and want to know what's next, this is for you... (if you've not taken our quiz, what are you waiting for? https://lnkd.in/ezbzCcnW ) I'm going to walk you through the basics of colour psychology and answer the questions I get most often, like: + What if I can't tell which type I am? + What if I'm half-and-half of two types? + What are the colours in my group? + What is colour harmony and how do I make it? + Can I mix colours from the groups? + Which colours should I definitely (and definitely not) use for my brand? + What if my brand and I have different types? + Once I know my colours, what do I do next? And along the way you'll discover the restorative and sustaining power of joy, and the many ways it can be exactly what you need more of right now... How color is an fun, empowering and effortless way to intentionally feed yourself and others more joy on a daily basis. See ya Tuesday?

Back to the future films, which is your favourite? I love them all, but if pushed I would go with Back to the Future - Part 2. Teenage Marty travels forward 30 years and sees himself as an older man with teenage children. He looks older, but he has the same habits. His weakness, to do foolish things because someone calls him "Chicken". By the end of the trilogy of films, Marty, back in real time, is able to learn the lessons of the past and future and not be goaded. Would you like to travel into the future, observe yourself, and then return to the present day and make a few key changes? As carers of parents, we have a glimpse of this superpower. We see our parents, the struggles they have, the situations where we as carers wish they could be easily for them and us. But we still live in real time, we have time to make changes, build habits, set ourselves up for the happier later life within our control. Does that sound like something you would like to explore? There is more information on my page, Happier Later Life. I also have a Facebook Community where we support one another in other current situations, as we work on habits, mindsets and practical steps that will make our later years more fun for us and less stressful for those who may have to care for us in the future. There will be a link in the comments, or send me a DM for more info.

How did your family respond to emotion, especially yours? As adults that can cause so many problems with our ability to manage the stress of being adults, to connect with other people, to allow our ourselves to be intimate and vulnerable, etc. We began discussing this in our weekly EMPOWER call and will do more of a deep dive next week.

It would be so much simpler if we started therapy and then made steady progress each week. But it doesn’t work like that. Sometimes we make quick progress, but a lot of the time – for me at least – it can be frustratingly slow. Many times I seemed to take one step forward and two steps back. And there were long periods when nothing seemed to be happening at all: times of ‘winter’. In this short video I explain that, just because it’s ‘winter’, it doesn’t mean to say that there’s nothing happening under the surface … Watch this 2-minute video to find out more: https://lnkd.in/ereDvJUs

All babies are of course beautiful, but this short blog discusses that not all our work babies are, as cognitive bias can negatively impact our objectivity, and what we can do about it. https://lnkd.in/eS9au3i4

With lots of events appearing over the coming months, we feel it's best to be prepared. Bonfire night can be particularly challenging for young people with sensory needs. The loud bangs, bright lights, different smells and too many people in one space can be overwhelming. Take a look at DOTS' top tips to reduce sensory overwhelm. 💻 www.dotsforchildren.com #SensoryOverload #SensoryNeeds #OccupationalTherapist
