Did you know that almost half of the corn produced in North America is used for bio-fuel production?! 🌽 Dartmouth-based Greenlight Analytical (GLA) has developed the HarvestIQ, an on-site analyzer that measures the chemical profile of plants during both growth and after harvest. With funding support from National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada, (NRC-IRAP), GLA will expand its capabilities to include testing corn for mycotoxins prior to its use in bio-ethanol production. Australia: 'Refuge chambers lead the way to pushing portable crop production above-ground' "We saw numerous opportunities in CEA for MineARC Systems that perfectly aligned with our areas of expertise, not only underground but also above ground as well. Broadening innovation internally on vertical farming, we potentially see a lot more business growth," says Holger Plange, Business development manager at MineARC Systems. As a global supplier in controlled environments, MineARC is a well-known provider of refuge chambers for various mining uses. MineARC has now adapted their established technology used to create controlled environments for humans and applied it to controlled environments in other areas like, medical marijuana production facilities and more recently, agriculture. Israel-based precision agtech company Greeneye Technology has raised $20 million to scale up operations in the US, bringing its total funding to date to $45 million. Deep Insight led the round with participation from existing investors Syngenta Group Ventures, JVP, and Orbia Ventures. New investor Iron Nation also participated. Whether it’s herbicide-resistant weeds, the rising cost of production, or environmental concerns, farmers increasingly face challenges when it comes to spraying chemical herbicide via conventional broadcast. Greeneye’s technology, which can be retrofit to work on most existing machines, can detect and spray only those areas with weeds, rather than hitting crops or bare ground, as broadcast methods do. https://lnkd.in/gHxyUSFb
