Imagine a bustling urban neighborhood plagued by litter-strewn streets and neglected green spaces. Residents navigate through heaps of waste, and once vibrant parks are overrun with debris. Then, a community-led mass cleanup initiative is launched. Residents, armed with gloves and trash bags, come together to restore their neighborhood. They pick up litter, clear out clogged drains, and rejuvenate neglected areas. As the cleanup progresses, a transformation takes place. Streets become cleaner, parks regain their allure, and the community's sense of pride is palpable. But the impact extends beyond aesthetics. By removing litter and debris, the cleanup helps restore the land to its natural state. It prevents pollutants from leaching into the soil and waterways, protects local flora and fauna, and fosters a healthier environment for all. Moreover, such an initiative has ripple effects of employment and a sustainable future. As community members engage in cleanup activities, they create job opportunities for local residents. Small businesses may emerge to support the cleanup efforts, offering services such as waste collection and recycling. A cleaner environment attracts investment and tourism, further bolstering economic growth and sustainability. With each discarded item collected and every square meter restored, the community takes a step closer to reclaiming its natural spaces and safeguarding its future. The mass cleanup becomes a symbol of collective action, demonstrating the power of community engagement in land restoration efforts.
We're in the homestretch of our 1st cleanup campaign this 2nd Quarter of 2024, and we need your help in continuing strong! Join us in restoring landfills in our community Kibra, Let us protect our environment and improve the air quality . 🗓️ Date: 20TH April 🕒 Time: 8:00-9:00 am 📍 Location: Mugumoini It is only together , that we can make a lasting impact and leave a cleaner, greener world for future generations. Let's show our commitment to sustainability and community pride! Spread the word and bring your energy to this 2nd quarter . See you there! #CommunityPride #Sustainability #MakeADifference #LandRestoration

Such a treat to get to be on a Carbon Unbound panel with fabulous people like Toby Janson-Smith and Ida Hempel talking about the evolution of the #CarbonRemoval industry and where we think it's going (spoiler alert - up!). We discussed the current concentration of carbon credit buyers - a few large players across technology, financial services, strategy consulting and CPG. While we need these industry vanguards to lead the way, others need to follow, especially those with #NetZero targets coming as soon as 2030. There will be a reckoning soon when corporate buyers look for carbon removal and realize how short the supply is compared to committed demand, and pretty far into the future. My advice to corporate buyers - start identifying and contracting with your supply partners now to ensure you'll have access to their product in the future. If you wait until we're all a lot closer to 2030, that supply will all be accounted for.
Big thank you to Carbon Unbound for a fantastic West Coast event with great panels and lively discussions on #CarbonRemovals over two days in gorgeous San Francisco. We're excited that our Chestnut Carbon Chief Commercial Officer Shannon Smith was part of a panel including Toby Janson-Smith from Verra, Ida Hempel from Galvanize Climate Solutions, and Carl Berglund from Nordbex, moderated by Katie Sullivan from IETA, about the evolution and role of carbon removal in the voluntary markets today. Chestnut Carbon is one of the few developers of U.S.-based carbon removal projects, bringing both Afforestation (ARR) and Improved Forest Management (IFM) credits to market. We're so proud of our Chestnut Restoration Project, restoring biodiverse, native forests in the Southeastern U.S. - we have acquired over 30,000 acres in 5 states and we're just getting started. We're also close to enrolling 100,000 acres of privately-owned forestland in our Verra-registered IFM project -- and just issued our first cohort of removal credits available for sale. 🌳 🌳 🌳 Special thanks to Joana Rousseau and Chantal Spit among the many from Carbon Unbound who pulled off such a great event! If you're interested in learning more about our projects, get in touch via LinkedIn page or our website www.chestnutcarbon.com.

Today is #WorldNatureConservationDay. Let’s all take a moment to reflect on the actions we can take to protect our planet. At Turner Enterprises we demonstrate how planet stewardship is consistent with the management philosophy of our ranches and properties – and our mission “to manage Turner lands in an economically sustainable and ecologically sensitive manner while promoting the conservation of native species.” This philosophy allows natural processes to take precedence, but still recognizes the “hand of man.” Turner Enterprises strives for management that is both ecologically sensitive and commercially sustainable. The great news is that we each have the power to make a difference in our actions and deeds. And for an even bigger legacy of impact —- we can help inspire the next generation to explore and discover the natural world – creating a lifetime of stewardship champions. Perhaps the most dramatically successful climate change mitigation project on the east coast. It's a tiny project that cost millions, but we have to start somewhere. #climatechange #sustainability #impactinvesting
16 years of living shoreline restoration is working! The first photo was taken on this day sixteen years ago, November 14, 2008. The foreground is my front yard, the middle is the roadway, and the concrete barrier marks the beachfront. Since then, Baysave, The Nature Conservancy, various universities and other nonprofit groups have worked to conduct research to make Money Island a model of shoreline stabilization and restoration. The second photo is taken today at high tide at this same location during the deepest water flood of this year. Living shoreline restoration, combined with rock jetties and seawalls where necessary, really does work to stabilize and restore our shorelines. Baysave is now managing the first ever private placement investment to allow ordinary citizens to own part of the company that made this possible and now plans to establish New Jersey's first clean energy marina. If you want information on becoming part of the sustainability revolution, contact Tony Novak at 856-447-3576. #climatechange #sustainability #impactinvesting
