How much grace do you give your employees? Providing flexibility and understanding can go a long way in fostering loyalty and trust among your team. Reflecting on my experiences, I've noticed that offering grace without guilt trips (i.e. not gaslighting) has a significant impact on employee morale and retention. My yoga teachers always express gratitude when I accommodate their needs, whether it's due to illness or personal matters. It's always surprising how such a simple gesture can make a difference, but then I remember the many times I haven't been provided with grace in the past. How do you show grace for your employees? This week, I took some time to step away from work and join an annual cake-mixing ceremony with close friends—a tradition that I look forward to every year. It was about carving out a couple of hours to reconnect, laugh, and embrace a moment that’s deeply personal to me. Work-life harmony (because balance doesn’t quite capture it anymore) is about making deliberate choices that allow both personal and professional priorities to coexist. It’s not about having policies and frameworks in place—it’s about creating an environment where people feel "empowered" to do their best work while staying connected to what brings them joy. Its bout having the freedom to create space for what recharges and grounds you.
