We are pleased to welcome DRI as a new member of our Association! DRI is dedicated to accelerating the energy transition in Central, Eastern and Southern Europe. The company’s mission is to work in underserved markets in Europe to achieve their net zero goals through delivering 5GW of renewable energy and battery storage by 2030. DRI currently works in Romania, Italy, Poland, and Croatia. In Poland, DRI is developing a 133MW battery storage project in Trzebinia: LINK and has the ambition to build 1GW of installed RES and BESS capacity in the country by 2030. Headquartered in Amsterdam, DRI also has local offices in Zagreb, Milan, Rome, Warsaw, and Bucharest. DRI is a subsidiary of the DTEK Group, the leader and biggest private investor in Ukraine’s energy sector. We were excited to hear Ed Miliband's promising commitments to infrastructure and eagerly anticipate his plan to resolve the planning delays for these crucial projects! We were also impressed by the presentation on the Xlinks Morocco-UK Power Project, which plans to use cutting-edge technology to transport solar and wind energy from Morocco to the UK. ACCIONA Energía Secures 48.1-MWp #Solar EaaS Project for Viscofan in #Spain. Spanish food casings and packaging manufacturer Viscofan SA has selected ACCIONA Energía to install a 48.1-MWp #solarphotovoltaic self-consumption system at its facilities in the region of #Navarre, northern Spain. With a nominal capacity of 40.1 MW at the connection point and 45 MW in inverters, the system will be one of the largest industrial solar self-consumption installations in Spain, according to Viscofan. The initiative has been recognised as a project of regional interest by the government of Navarre, the food sector company said. [NEA Delegation Visits to Exchange Views on Deepening Cooperation] Towngas is honoured to receive the National Energy Administration (NEA) delegation visiting our facilities, including the Tai Po Gas Production Plant and our North Point Headquarters, on 17 December. The visit aimed to understand Hong Kong’s longest-standing utility, particularly our smart energy development and latest hydrogen facilities. Our senior management representatives including Mr Martin Kee Wai-ngai, Chief Operating Officer - Mainland Utilities, and Mr Don Cheng Hill-kwong, Chief Operating Officer - Hong Kong Business, welcomed the visiting NEA delegation led by Mr Bian Guangqi, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Technology Equipment of NEA. Both parties held in-depth discussions on how Towngas could better contribute to national energy development, ensure energy security and stable supply, and advance green low-carbon energy initiatives. The delegation visited scenarios where we extract hydrogen from existing gas pipelines and utilises hydrogen fuel cells to generate electricity. Apart from the hydrogen extraction facility in our Tai Po gas plant, the delegation also visited a recreational facility in Sai Kung to observe Hong Kong’s first proof-of-concept modular hydrogen power generation system trial project. Established by Towngas, the system features gas pipeline networks and hydrogen extraction facilities to power electric vehicle charging stations, whilst the residual gas after hydrogen extraction supports a combined heat and power system for electricity and hot water supply. The delegation later visited Towngas’ North Point Headquarters, which showcased equipment and technologies developed by Towngas staff, and project innovations in renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and green methanol in the Hall of Innovation and Hall of Future Energy. At our Historical Gallery and Customer Centre, the delegation also learnt about our history, quality gas appliances and home products, as well as our services. Towngas hopes this visit has deepened mutual understanding and pledges to continue strengthening communication and cooperation with NEA. Another incredible achievement on the path to grid decarbonization and increasing the share of renewable energy in Europe, particularly in the Belgian market! Energy Storage Systems of Type C (equal to or exceeding 25MW) face more stringent grid requirements compared to Type B (less than 25MW) and Type A (less than 1MW), across various critical aspects such as frequency stability and active power management, voltage control, system restoration, and reactive power capabilities.
