Here's how an aircraft maintenance organization operates! Quality approvals, meticulous planning, resource coordination, and thorough audits ensure top-notch maintenance. Material costs are a major factor! #AircraftMaintenance #Aviation #QualityManagement #MaintenancePlanning #ProductionPlanning #MaterialManagement #AviationIndustry #AircraftCare
✈️ How an Aircraft Maintenance Organization Runs Curious how an aircraft maintenance organization operates? Here's a breakdown! ** It all starts with approvals!** The Quality Management Department (QMD) ️ ensures everything is A-OK before moving forward. ️ Next, Maintenance Planning prepares aircraft maintenance programs based on those approvals. These programs then help forecast scheduled maintenance needs. ⏰ When maintenance is due, Maintenance Planning creates work packages and sends them to Production Planning for execution. ** Production Planning** juggles resources (think mechanics!), materials , and tools to ensure timely maintenance and documented compliance through work orders. ✅ ** The Aircraft Maintenance Team** steps in to complete the assigned work ♀️ and signs off on job cards. ** Technical Records** then reviews and audits the work orders to make sure everything is shipshape. ** Did you know?** A major chunk of aircraft maintenance costs comes from materials used! These can be repairable parts, consumables, or even expendables. That's why expertise in material planning and repair management is crucial! #AircraftMaintenance #MaterialPlanning #BehindTheScenes #Aviation #MaintenancePlanning #ProductionPlanning #QualityManagement #TechnicalRecords #AircraftMaintenanceTeam #AviationIndustry

Maintenance staff shortage could clip aviation industry's wings - (c) AFP The United States is grappling with a shortage of maintenance workers in the aviation industry, with baby boomers retiring and others changing jobs during the pandemic. This comes as the global fleet of commercial aircraft is set to balloon a third by 2034, involving more than 36,400 vessels, according to a recent study by consulting firm Oliver Wyman. In its wake, spending in the maintenance, repair and overhaul market is projected to grow almost 20 percent by 2034. But the sector suffers from a shortfall of qualified manpower -- and an inadequate pipeline of talent. It lacks some 24,000 aviation maintenance technicians in North America, a figure due to reach nearly 40,000 by 2028, Oliver Wyman notes. In the United States, around 4,000 maintenance, repair and overhaul companies employ some 185,000 aviation maintenance technicians and engineers. This forms around 44 percent of the global total, according to the Aeronautical Repair Station Association. In a 2023-2042 outlook, aviation giant Boeing forecasts "strong" long-term demand for newly qualified aviation personnel. There is a need for some 690,000 new maintenance technicians to help maintain the global commercial fleet over the next 20 years, according to Boeing. The maintenance, repair and overhaul sector is "under-capacity, and hangar maintenance slots are in high demand, especially as aircraft manufacturers' delivery delays mean that older aircrafts are being flown for longer periods, requiring more maintenance," Fabre added. The two major aircraft manufacturers, Boeing and Airbus, are fully booked until almost the end of the decade and are accumulating delays. Our industry is finally talking about the importance of the aircraft maintenance engineer (AME) and the pending shortage which has now become a reality. This profession has lost many talented AMEs to other industries. The majority of the departures of my colleagues over the years have been to industries requiring significantly less responsibility that provide better working conditions and higher pay. Now is the time for airlines to recognize the importance of the AME and the responsibilities they hold. When the per hour rate to fix you pickup truck or washing machine is twice as much as it costs per hour to fix an aircraft, there is something seriously wrong. This change will likely equate to slightly higher ticket prices, but it’s time for a change, and the airlines that take charge supporting the AMEs with increased compensation and better working conditions are going to be the ones retaining the talent. Good experienced talent equates to an airline that is consistently on time, and more importantly, SAFE.

My early career years Operations Assistant Transport I would always do my office work that's it come dispatch time trucks did not leave the yard Why didn't the trucks leave? I would answer boss it's the workshop... One day my boss came in early and took me to the workshop after entering the planning room he pointed at a desk "that's your desk" and said you're Workshop Manager now🤔🙄 And before i could open my mouth to speak he said "David you still maintain your job as Operations Assistant " On that day i knew i have been fixed🛠 With the little mechanical knowledge ⚙, i got so involved in the workshop to an extent that when the workshop is overwhelmed I jumped into the overalls became an extra hand...🔧🔧 On top of that I did my Operations Assistant job. I was the 1st man to get through the doors and the last one to leave. Benefits Trucks were dispatched on time.✅ The workshop was run efficiently.✅ When the tyre man is not in....I had to do it👍🏿 When the airman is not in...I had to do it 👍🏿 The technical aspect got to me in most activities tyre management, proactive maintenance etc. We planned better with my workshop team we would give accurate ETAs. Because i knew how long it takes to change a tyre, Time it takes to do General service of the vehicle. More productive.... knowing the time frames made it easier to manage the workshop team and when one is lazing around it would be easy to spot and correct Which in turn made my Operations Assistant roll better. Clients were satisfied with Fleet availability. We reduced fleet down time to the minimal Breakdowns were managed efficiently Thanks SS 💪🏿 for pushing me i will forever be grateful
