The proposed establishment of an Aviation Industry Ombuds Scheme represents a significant step toward boosting the flying public’s confidence in Australian aviation services. As part of its response to the Federal Government’s consultation paper, the Australian Airports Association (AAA) has outlined recommendations for consideration in the scheme’s development. One of the AAA’s key proposals is the exemption from the scheme of airports with less than one million annual passenger movements. This would cover more than 90% of air travellers and lessen the impact on recovering regional and remote airports. These smaller airports often operate at a loss and are still dealing with the fallout of the Rex Airlines financial collapse. A sensible airport threshold for the scheme would help safeguard their current survival. Those with a keen eye on Australian aviation are going to hear a lot more about a future federal Ombuds Scheme in the medium term. How it is shaped in time is also beholden on ensuring constructive input by key industry stakeholders & quite frankly sensible insights shared. The Australian Airports Association is holding to this approach. Our submission into the Comminwealth’s consultation process is in the link below. #auspol #ombuds #aviation #airports #airlines #australianconsumerlaw #flyingpublic #regionalaustralia #visitoreconomy

Current challenges in finding aircraft in a resource-limited market have resulted in a strategic management shift at LIFT Airlines, with the co-founders Gidon Novick, Jonathan Ayache, and Justin Gordon pulling out of management to focus on the airline’s fleet renewal. They remain shareholders and on the board, but "their focus will shift to strategic initiatives, including aircraft acquisition and expanding LIFT's model across the African continent". In July, Ayache told ch-aviation that LIFT plans to rejuvenate its ageing fleet with younger, pre-owned A320-200s in the next 18 to 24 months and is already in "advanced" talks with partners about financing these aircraft. To get the background on the latest decision, read that story here: https://lnkd.in/dNV9kh4Y LIFT is the scheduled airline brand of ACMI specialist Global Aviation which now takes full management control. It operates an all-Airbus fleet of A320-200s, most of which are owned by the parent company. #africanairlinenews #airlines #aviationnews
