PARK(ing) Day fosters social interaction, civic engagement, critical thinking, and creativity through community participation and play. Each year on the third Friday of September, cities worldwide partake in transforming parking spaces into vibrant parks. Local residents, organizations, and businesses collaborate to create inviting spaces for relaxation, networking, and entertainment. This annual event turns any downtown into a living urban laboratory, showcasing innovative ideas and featuring performances from local artists. Why I believe PARK(ing) Day is so very Important in todays world. 1. Community Building: It encourages residents to connect, fostering a sense of belonging and community spirit. 2. Reimagining Urban Spaces: It challenges conventional uses of public space, promoting innovative solutions for urban design. 3. Civic Engagement: By involving diverse groups, it empowers citizens to express their ideas and advocate for change in their neighborhoods. 4. Environmental Awareness: It highlights the need for green spaces in urban areas, encouraging sustainable practices and enhancing city livability. After almost 3 decades of collaborating with landscape architects and urban planners, I've concluded that landscape architecture is vital to the future of humanity. This profession inspires me so and attracts critical thinkers who intricately weave community, culture, creativity, and sustainability and soul into every aspect of their designs and lives. You spend ⅓ of your life at the workplace which is a considerable span.  And there should be thoughtfulness around the quality space, comfort, accessibility and motivation. While defining the standard of space, Homeland City amuses only entrepreneurs with high goals and long term persistence, so HLC corporate space is a good opportunity to work around like minded people. Considering the infrastructure, all the offices have 11 ft ceiling height with individual restroom units and most of the offices have a scenic view of the city. WHAT DOES THE BEAN MEAN? The Bean’s reflective surface was inspired by liquid mercury. This shiny exterior reflects the people moving around the park, the lights of Michigan Avenue, and the surrounding skyline and green space — perfectly encapsulating the Millennium Park experience, and representing the sea of humanity. The City of Chicago promised a spring 2024 reopening of the Cloud Gate (more commonly known as the Bean) but as a surprise to many tourists, and some locals, the sculpture is still under construction. Seen here is the view. It's a huge attraction downtown. Visitors from around the world and residents visit the popular Cloud Gate in Chicago's Millennium Park. a Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events spokesperson said The Bean attracts 20 million visitors to Millennium Park each year. Nice to see you, Chicago! Where meatpacking plants have given way to pickle ball courts, apparently. Chicago is a massive city. Massive. The metro area, including the suburbs, is over 8-million people. It takes up a lot of space. Imagine if Manhattan (daytime population also about 8-million people) was restricted to buildings only ten stories tall, how much more space it would take to hold all those people. To sleep all those people. The space required for 8-million kitchens and bathrooms and bedrooms when no building could exceed 10-storeys. That’s kind of what Chicago feels like. There are skyscrapers here, but they’re concentrated in certain places, mostly by the lake. Not too far from shore the height scales down and low- to mid-level buildings roll out to the horizon. I guess Chicago feels like what the rest of Illinois looks like: big, sky-wide fields with concentrated bursts of taller places where most of the people live.  #falltour2024 #work
