You say “support female founders”, I say “yes”! 😉   Excited to be helping one of these 11 companies as a lead coach in the new up and coming #Empowomen program's first cohort.   When building my social business with Solvita Kostjukova, having wise people around to ask for help and advice was crucial to our business journey, even though I really hated the “reality check” of mentors saying that first three years of business are going to be like walking through 💩 till your knees (and they were right).   Not a fan of the whole “female founder” separation from “male founder”, as all of them are just a bit crazy people trying to build a startup and gender shouldn’t matter. But unfortunately we are not there yet, so it makes sense to celebrate programs like these and NGOs like Riga TechGirls that are making a real difference. ❤️   P.s. and, let’s be honest – I also really miss my Startup Wise Guys squad – so when Brianna Quintero & Timi Ilze calls, the answer is “of course”. They secured over 150 potential partnerships, investor connections, and client relationships, driving collaboration and innovation in the biopharma and biotech sectors. ⚕️Impact Health (Toronto): Edna Chosack and Anmol N. (yes, he was there too!) hosted our booth at Impact Health presented by MaRS Discovery District, where they fielded questions from eager co-founders interested in our services. We're thrilled that many are planning to apply! District 3 also had a delegation of eight life sciences startups: AzurDev , Folium Labs Inc., Kryptic, Nanofacile, Nospharma (present at both BIO and Impact Health!), Sonaro, and Statera Medical. These innovative teams delivered captivating pitches on the main stage, attracting significant investor attention. We also had the opportunity to present a collaborative project between District 3 and MaRs; The Mind Balance Project focussed on the mental well-being of early stage startups. Australia’s flagship #deeptech incubator, Cicada Innovations, is now opening the doors of its Cicada HealthTech Hub in the heart of Westmead's #health and biomedical precinct! ⚕🩺💊 This hub is a launching pad for biomedical startups, offering a range of comprehensive support services, mentorship programs, access to masterclass seminars, and networking opportunities, all aimed at accelerating life-changing research into real-world solutions. 🚀 The first resident already on site is iiShield, a healthtech startup whose groundbreaking “kidney pyjamas” (Ischemic Injury Protective Jacket) aim to double the available time for kidney transplants by minimising the heat of the kidney during procedures. We've got something to share.... 🥁 Mohana made it to the top 20 startups to be invited to pitch on stage at Slush for €1M in investment on the 20th! 🏆 Why is this a big deal? While there are so many exciting startups out there innovating in women's health, the sad reality is that most of them don't make it. Why? Because of the lack of funding. No capital, no company and no innovation. And this is the sad story behind why so many women feel unheard, gaslit, and dismissed when it comes to their healthcare needs, especially during critical life stages like peri/menopause. Despite all the innovation around us left and right, we still tell women 'sorry, the female body is still a mystery in 2024, so we can't help you'. May this be pelvic cramps, PCOS, endometriosis, unexplained infertility, perimenopause and the list goes on... Slush is one of the biggest conferences in the world to connect startups with investors. 🌟 Thrilled to share that INSIGHT has won First Place in the Life Sciences and MedTech category at StartCup Lombardia! 🌟 After a long journey of hard work, meetings, studies, and refinements, INSIGHT has achieved a significant milestone. INSIGHT is a startup project aiming to develop an innovative device that reconstructs the mucosa of the colon inspected during colonoscopy. By highlighting potentially missed areas, we aim to enhance the performance of endoscopists and contribute to better patient outcomes. A huge thank you to Regione Lombardia and MUSA scarl for this invaluable experience, and a special thanks to Guido Guidesi for his trust and support.
