Last week's announcement that Hyve Group acquired HLTH Inc. drew my attention back to some personal takeaways from an excellent #HLTH experience, my first representing Manatt Health: *Over-hyped* The AI Tech Stack While boatloads of speakers and digital ink (and gobs of VC money) were spilt on sky high valuations for AI-enabled [insert here], Daniel Yang, MD rightly points out that it is the "human stack" that will deliver outcomes based on people (earning the trust of patients and clinicians), process (think about upstream and downstream constraints before deploying new tech), policy (huge and widening AI regulatory gap between what we can do and what is properly regulated), and problems (thoughtful problem shapers over tech looking for problems to solve. I'll add basic human capital infrastructure like medical ethicists and prompt/testing engineers to Daniel's human stack. *Under-hyped* Women's health is population health If we don't take the decades long crisis in women's health seriously we might as well throw in the towel on population health. For decades women, and yes mostly women, have been fighting for their bodies to be treated equally when it comes to medical research and clinical care. It's about time that everywhere I turned I saw action focused on putting women on even footing with men when it comes to what healthcare can accomplish. Champions like Lisa Suennen, GCB.D, Jessica J. Federer, Deena Shakir, Carolee Lee, Sanskriti Thakur, and our First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to name a few are moving us forward on issues ranging from research into equitable efficacy of existing drugs and devices to benefits and product/service models to address caregiver demands that fall disproportionately on women in the United States. Let's compound these gains because we've got a long way to go. *Just right* Companies shaping products/services around life stages Whether it is the long overdue mainstreaming of menopause and perimenopause treatment, or mental health companies listening when it comes to connecting the seams between pediatric/adolescent/young adult/adult/aging/geriatric care model options (I foresee this coming via M&A activity), the theme of understanding that we all have different needs at different life stages is catching on. With a little humility and a lot of work on product market fit I am excited about many of the conversations I had about working with builders from early stage through incumbent health systems to meet people where they are physically in both space and lifetime. I'd love to hear about others' personal takeaways on what's over-hyped, under-hyped, or just right in the comments. Let 'er rip.

The best ideas don't come from meeting rooms, they emerge when people break bread and share real conversations over a meal. Last week, before our HLTH Foundation Techquity Advisory Coalition meeting, we gathered over a meal, no agendas, no presentations. Just honest talk about why this work matters. Around that table, titles fell away. We weren't executives or advisors, we were people who understand that healthcare needs more than just innovation. It needs heart. It needs purpose. It needs to work for everyone, not just some. These weren't polished conversations. They were raw, honest discussions about the challenges ahead and why we keep pushing forward. About who we're really building this future for. About what it means to transform healthcare into something that serves all our communities.
