Our team recently visited Nyasore Primary School in Homabay County to discuss the implementation of the Leading Learning for Gender Equality (LL4GE) program. During our field monitoring visits, we were joined by representatives from the British Council. We had meaningful conversations with school leaders and instructional leaders about their progress in addressing gender issues, the challenges they face, their achievements, and the support they need. The LL4GE project, spearheaded by the British Council in collaboration with Dignitas Project, aims to empower instructional leaders by developing their expertise in tackling gender inequalities. This initiative equips them with the necessary skills, strategies, tools, and approaches to promote gender-responsive pedagogy in schools. One key takeaway is the importance of tailoring interventions to address the specific gender-related gaps in each school. The 10th of June 2024 marked the commencement of a significant milestone in our collective journey towards establishing a formidable force in #empowering girls through #education with the #Global 2/24 Girls Education mentorship program of Teach for All. Here are some profound insights from the guest speaker, Ms. #Farihah Fahmy, the head of Global Girls Education at #TeachforAll:"Girls do not require saviors who presume to know what is best for them; they require champions who labor alongside them in profound partnership, prioritizing girls' needs and experiences over assuming superiority in knowledge. If our objective is to witness a world where all girls flourish, we must engage in collaboration rather than competition." In conclusion, here are some contemplative inquiries on gender equality: 1.During your formative years, were you subjected to differential treatment based on your gender? 2.How did these gender biases manifest in your life? 3.Does the education of girls hold significance for you? If so, why is it significant? #globalgirlseducation #teachforall #learning #fellowsihp #teachforuganda.

Gender equality in education cannot be achieved without gender equality in the teaching workforce. 👉 In countries with more female primary teachers, girls are more likely to enroll in secondary school. #WorldTeachersDay #TeachersTransform

This International Women’s Day, Partnership for Education’s Jane Mann and Kagendo Salisbury discuss the journey towards gender equality in education and beyond: • 📚 Educational equity: Jane highlights the challenge of period poverty in sub-Saharan Africa, where it leads to girls missing school. She celebrates the introduction of free sanitary products and comprehensive sexuality education as steps towards inclusive education. • 💬 Valuing women’s voices: Kagendo addresses the issue of women’s perspectives being overlooked in professional settings. She advocates for a culture where diversity and equality are practiced every day, beyond just policy. A #research team conducted focus group interviews with faculty and staff at the Mongolian University of Science and #Technology (MUST) and developed a new gender equality index to ascertain the status of gender equality in the country’s higher #education institutions. The study found that #genderequality among MUST teachers, staff, and students was above average, but it needed improvement in #management councils and #leadership positions. It proposes strategies to enhance gender equality at the student, teaching staff, and #governance levels. 🟠 READ https://buff.ly/3VSBXqa #SDG4 #SDG5 #SDG10 Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center, Ankhbayar Begz (Paul Anka), Christine Min Wotipka, Risako Ninomiya, Jieun Song

I’ve completed Week 3 of the Exploring Gender Equality in Education course. This week, I learned about power dynamics in schools, the impact of gender-based violence, and explored case studies involving teachers, students, and school leaders. I also evaluated my school’s approach to gender equality and thought about where change could happen. The course highlighted the role of parents and the community in supporting change. I joined a live Q&A session, created action points for change, and discussed ways to track progress. This week has given me a better understanding of gender equality in education and practical ways to make a difference. https://lnkd.in/ecWaChrb

👋👋🏿Let's play "Did you know?" game today (Saturdays are good for this, but feel free to join in any day you read this:).... So, Did you know that.... .....Women and children are 14 times more likely to die in climate disasters than men, globally? ( I did not say it will be a light game) ..... 70% of the fatalities were women - 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami ... Close to 90% of the 140,000 deaths were women in 1991 Bangladesh Cyclone Shocking, right? But it gets hotter—literally. Talking about extreme heat as a result of global warming, women have 60% less access to cooling solutions than men... Now, let’s take a moment for some more related facts: 🎈Any climate solution that doesn't factor in gender, economic, and social differences cannot be effective! (You have to agree with this, right?) 🎈We’re too often developing climate solutions—climate change response plans, climate responsive public finance, ESG frameworks— in isolation from gender solutions. (Please, tell me I’m wrong! Good examples, anyone?) So, now that we covered Did you know part (:)😎 here is a really informative presentation on how to develop gender responsive Heat Action Plans by Labisha Uprety a master’s student at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and intern at Asian Development Bank (ADB)’s Gender Equality Division (CCGE). Video recording is at the link bellow.
At a learning session on 28 August, Labisha Uprety, a master’s student at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and intern at ADB’s Gender Equality Division (CCGE), explored the concept of extreme heat as “thermal violence,” which disproportionately affects women in vulnerable sectors and communities. Labisha provided an analysis of current heat-related interventions and offered concrete ways to incorporate gender considerations. She also mapped out innovative practices and partnerships that could help ADB develop the next generation of Heat Action Plans that are both inclusive and effective. The session opened by CCGE’s Senior Social Development Specialist, Zonibel Woods, offered valuable insights into how ADB can develop the next generation of Heat Action Plans that are both gender-responsive and impactful. Today, let's tackle an important topic for our #TuesdayTalk: the myth that "Gender equality in education has been achieved." At ICCEF, we are committed to breaking down these barriers and ensuring that every child, regardless of gender, has access to quality education. One of our program areas, community youth empowerment & education, focuses on creating opportunities for girls to learn and thrive, challenging cultural norms that hinder girls' educational prospects. 🌍 Through educational support, we work tirelessly to bridge the gender gap in education. What steps can we take together to further promote gender equality in education? Share your thoughts in the comments!👇🏾 #ImpactandLegacy #InnocentChukwuemekaChukwumalives #InnocentChukwumalives
