Less the a week to go until our next Thinking Differently webinar. Do join us by registering at https://lnkd.in/eKn6ZTGa In my conversations with NHS boards, there is a recurring theme: the weariness caused by constant benchmarking, cost improvement programmes, and relentless productivity targets. This cycle often leads to a feeling of "here we go again" and results in a disproportionate focus on managing upwards at the expense of quality and care for staff and patients. The struggle between short-term fixes and long-term solutions, as well as the influence of politics, is ever-present. Cost improvement programmes (CIPs) have resurfaced as a primary tool, but their effectiveness is questionable. There is growing evidence that they may inadvertently worsen the situation as blunt instruments - an unintended consequence. How do we break this cycle, and are there alternative approaches? Join my esteemed colleagues, Mark Jennings, Prof Sir Muir Gray, Dr Dilshaad Ali, Claire Wilson and John Grinnell, who will delve into these issues and offer insights and solutions. We will explore perspectives that prioritise patients and staff in healthcare transformation, with a focus on creating value for all stakeholders. Join the discussion.
Unlocking Value in Healthcare Is there a better way to more productive and sustainable healthcare systems than the current focus on cost improvement programmes? Join us at our next STRASYS webinar, where we will examine current practices and suggest better ways to achieve long-term sustainability. Chaired by Mark Jennings our international panel will share a multi-sectoral perspective on how to think and do differently adopting a growth mindset. Featured Speakers: - Claire Wilson, CFO, Cheshire and Merseyside Integrated Care Board and Vice President of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) - Prof Sir Muir Gray, Director of Oxford Value & Stewardship Programme (OVSP) - John Grinnell, Managing Director/CFO, Alder Hey Children's Hospital - Dr Dilshaad Ali, Group CEO, Hoan My Medical Corporation, Vietnam Register Here: https://lnkd.in/ejjPY7WG Date: 4th June 2024 Time: 12:30 - 13:45 (UK) Location: Online #ThinkingDifferently #Productivity #Innovation #Healthcare

1 week to go until our next webinar. Do join us by registering at: https://lnkd.in/ejjPY7WG. The NHS Long Term Workforce Plan expects to add nearly a million staff to the NHS over the next 15 years. That is after assumed annual productivity growth over those coming 15 years at twice the average rate of the last 20. The diagnosis on NHS productivity issues is unclear and the treatment plan even less well understood. A lot of staff have already been added since December 2019, but staffing is often not the rate-limiting factor and lower average experience in the workforce is going to negatively impact productivity for at least a couple of years. Huge strides in technology and medical science have happened over the last 20 years but are hard to detect in the productivity statistics. Certainly, sophistication in driving healthcare productivity is way behind sophistication in specific treatment of medical ailments. 21st Century healthcare relies on leeching of the NHS through Cost Improvement Plans for treatment of ill humours. 4 smart, well-informed guests, and I, will discuss badly-needed alternatives. I hope you will find it a lunch hour well spent to join the conversation.
