"🌍 A Spotlight on Africa Day: Engineering Future-Proof Education Systems 🎓 As we toast to Africa Day 2024 🥂, our focus is sharp - Education for the 21st Century🌱. Ponder with me now. How can we navigate Africa's diverse capitals 🏞️ and vast resources to achieve this dream of quality education and resilient systems reaching every corner of our continent? What's our secret weapon in this journey? Short answer? Africa's human capital 👥. Its vibrant, diverse population. These are the millions of minds whose potential we must unlock with accessible, quality education, no matter where they hail from or their social standing. Next up is our trove of natural resources 💎. Minerals, oil, fertile soil - these are more than just assets. They're our way to catalyse education. Picture this: revenue from mineral wealth used to fund scholarships, build state-of-the-art schools, equip classrooms with the latest technology 💻. Think further. Renewable energy projects illuminating minds, powering schools for uninterrupted learning 🎒. Agricultural education included in our curriculums, a guiding light for sustainable farming and food security 🍲. Culture, our beating heart ❤️. Our languages, art, music, traditions - each a precious thread in the tapestry of our educational system. Let's celebrate multilingualism and invest in creative education. It's time to nurture our future creators: the artist 🎨, the writer 🖋️, the musician 🎵. Urban centres of innovation: Nairobi, Lagos, Johannesburg and many more.... These cities hold the promise of better educational access. The vision? Smart cities 🏙️, efficient public transport 🚌, digital libraries 📚, e-learning platforms. Coding bootcamps 💻, hackathons, mentorship initiatives. We're gearing up for an evolving digital era. The final piece of our puzzle? Community engagement. Education flourishes in a nurturing environment. Let's boost parental involvement, create teacher-parent associations, run workshops, literacy campaigns. Alumni networks could be the inspiration and mentorship students need 🎓. To wrap it up, building resilient educational systems in Africa is a shared venture. It's a symphony of collaboration, innovation, encompassing everyone. With every child accessing quality education, we're shaping the Africa of the 21st century. Together, we're crafting a brighter future #AfricaDay #EducationForAll #AfricanUnity

By 2030, Ghana alone is expected to offer 9 million digital jobs with about $4 billion revenue potential. But that will be elusive if the gap between demand and supply isn’t addressed. So how do we position Ghana’s education system to prepare learners to meet the demands of the digital market? I’ll provide some answers tomorrow at the British Council.

Despite being a University of Georgia-trained Community Engagement and Youth Leadership and Project Management Professional, in 2023, I thought earning a professional development certificate with 80 contact hours was not enough. I had to come up with SYGP Africa , which has attracted global attention. I have currently designed three cardinal structures to smartly engage with stakeholders: - Act Early Climate Education Campaign for Young People Living in Slums Communities in Nigeria. - SkillUpYouth Green Project Africa Ambassadorship Program for young graduates, undergraduates, and postgraduates to hone their entrepreneurship skills in order to solve problems and make a profit. - SYGP community report to engage local communities on Sustainable Development and Environmental Conservation. I believe 2025 will be more strategic and engaging with involvement of more institutions, individuals, government parastatals about our work. Membership application will be open by January 2025. Interested individuals working on Green Entrepreneurship, Youths Development and Community Project, Education, Waste Management and Circular Economy are welcome 🤗 #sygpafrica #greenenterpreneurship #sustainability #youths #youthsandclimate #community #africa #globalinitiatives

Excited to share that I recently participated in the "Empowering Africa: Building Media Literacy Capacity" Virtual Training Series (May 2024), organized by DCN Global This series was an incredible opportunity to deepen my understanding of media literacy and its crucial role in empowering communities across Africa. Throughout the sessions, I had the pleasure of engaging with experts and like-minded #professionals who are passionate about fostering a more informed and critical media environment. Key learnings: Critical Thinking Skills: In an era where misinformation can spread rapidly, the training emphasized the importance of developing #criticalthinking skills to analyze and evaluate #mediacontent effectively. Digital Citizenship: Understanding the responsibilities and ethical considerations of being a digital citizen was a major highlight. It's about promoting positive and responsible online behavior. Fact-Checking Techniques: I learned various fact-checking tools and techniques to verify information before sharing it, which is vital in combating fake news. Media Production Insights: The sessions provided practical insights into #mediaproduction, helping us understand how media is created and the impact it can have on public perception. Community Engagement: Building #medialiteracy isn't just about individual skills—it's about engaging communities to create a culture of critical consumption and production of media. I am grateful for the knowledge gained and the connections made during this training. A huge thank you to Digital Communication Network Global for organizing such a transformative series. I am excited to contribute to empowering media literate communities across Africa. #EmpoweringAfrica #DigitalCommunication #FactChecking #DigitalCitizenship #CommunityEngagement #ProfessionalDevelopment

Earlier today, the NESG launched the second cohort of the Non-Residential Fellowship Programme (NRFP). The NRFP serves as a knowledge hub on development issues and policies, bringing together distinguished intellectuals from academia, research-based institutions, and the private sector. This initiative supports the #NESG's research and advocacy efforts, fostering collaboration and idea-sharing among experts to ensure the effective application of research findings. The NRFP provides a platform for select academics and researchers to explore and shape policies impacting Nigeria's economic development and governance. This 18-month edition focuses on two thematic areas: Economy and Trade, and Governance and Social Inclusion. Over the next several months, the NRFP Senior Fellows will collaborate to produce impactful research outputs and engage in policy advocacy, helping to chart a pathway for Nigeria's sustainable economic development. #NRFP #NESG

Effective FAIR data management significantly aids in the visibility of African funding outputs by making research more discoverable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable. This not only boosts the profile of African research on the global stage but also fosters collaborations, enhances credibility, informs policy, and attracts further funding. For more on how we have been doing this please join our partners Crossref and ROR - Research Organization Registry as we take you through what we have been doing and listen to some of the African funders case studies from National Research Fund Kenya and Le Fonds National de la Recherche et de l’Innovation pour le Développement -FONRID (Burkina Faso) in addition with the contributions from Association of African Universities and African Open Science Platform who will share the research management and policy making implications on making African funders output accessible. In Ghana, 9 out of 10 university graduates are unemployed first year after they graduate! Such a disturbing metric. Let me tell you another thing too. The reason for this metric is not because there are no jobs. It is because many university graduates are not ready for work. It is in this vein that African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) is hosting the Intergenerational Dialogue (IGD) webinar for young people in Africa, experts and policy makers tomorrow, March 21, 2024 at 11:00am. This webinar brings all generations, experts and policy makers together to have a conversation on how to impact socio-economic issues relating to education, skills, employment and entrepreneurship. To make it simple, come for this event and tell us what you think the government can do to ensure you have a bright future. Click here bit.ly/IGD_2024 To register. It’s free!
