🌟 **Breaking Free from Stones: Embracing Recovery After RIRS Surgery for Kidney Stones** 🌟 Embarking on the road to recovery after RIRS (Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery) for kidney stones is a transformative journey toward renewed health and well-being. Let's shed light on this process, empowering individuals with awareness and hope. 💡 **Understanding RIRS Surgery:** RIRS is a minimally invasive procedure designed to treat kidney stones by accessing them through the urinary tract. Utilizing a flexible ureteroscope, surgeons navigate through the urinary passages to break down and remove stones, eliminating the need for incisions. 🛌 **Immediate Post-Surgery Phase:** Following RIRS, patients typically experience a brief recovery period. Monitoring in the hospital ensures a smooth transition, and healthcare professionals provide guidance on postoperative care, pain management, and necessary lifestyle adjustments. 🌿 **Gradual Resumption of Normal Activities:** The journey toward recovery involves a phased approach. Patients are encouraged to gradually resume daily activities while being mindful of their body's signals. Adequate rest, hydration, and adherence to prescribed medications contribute to a smooth recovery. 👨⚕️ **Follow-up Appointments:** Regular follow-up appointments with healthcare providers play a crucial role in monitoring recovery progress. These appointments allow for the assessment of kidney function, addressing any concerns, and ensuring that the risk of future stone formation is minimized. 🌈 **Lifestyle Choices for Stone Prevention:** Post-recovery, adopting a kidney-friendly lifestyle becomes key. This includes staying well-hydrated, maintaining a balanced diet, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to prevent the recurrence of kidney stones. For those navigating the post-RIRS recovery journey, remember that each step forward is a victory. With resilience, awareness, and support, you're on the path to a stone-free and vibrant future! 💙🌟 #KidneyStoneAwareness #RIRSRecovery #HealthHopeHealing

Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression: A Superior Approach to Alleviating Back Pain Persistent back pain can significantly disrupt daily life, impacting mobility & overall well-being. Traditionally, surgical interventions have been the primary recourse for severe spinal conditions. However, a cutting-edge alternative is gaining recognition: non-surgical spinal decompression. This advanced, non-invasive technology offers effective pain relief without the complexities & risks associated with surgery. Non-surgical spinal decompression utilizes a computer-controlled device to deliver gentle & painless treatment to injured spinal discs. Through targeted stretching of the spine, the device creates a negative pressure within the discs. This process encourages herniated or bulging discs to retract, allowing nutrient-rich fluids to flow back into the discs. This, in turn, promotes healing & alleviates pain. Advantages Over Surgical Options: 1. Non-Invasive: Unlike surgery, non-surgical decompression does not involve incisions or anesthesia, thereby reducing risks & recovery time. 2. Minimal Downtime: While surgical procedures often require extended recovery periods, non-surgical decompression allows patients to resume normal activities almost immediately. 3. Reduced Risks: Surgical interventions carry inherent risks such as infection & complications from anesthesia, all of which are bypassed with non-surgical decompression. 4. Preservation of Spinal Anatomy: Unlike surgery, which may alter the natural structure of the spine, non-surgical decompression aims to restore spinal health without permanent changes. 5. Cost-Effectiveness: Non-surgical decompression is significantly more economical than surgical procedures, eliminating expenses associated with hospital stays & post-operative care. Non-surgical spinal decompression has proven to be a beneficial alternative for both pre-operative & post-operative patients, yielding positive outcomes in pain management by addressing the root cause of discomfort with minimal risk & downtime. It's an opportunity to reclaim a pain-free life. #spinaldecompression #carync #slippeddisc #backpain #lowbackpain #sciaticapain #spinecare #backbrace #cervicalcollar #herniateddisc #herniateddisks #herniateddisk #herniated #neckpain #lumbarsupport #sciatica #spinalsolutions #spinalsurgery #painrelief

#WFITN2024 #INReporters 👉 𝗣𝗿. 𝗚𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗻 talked about the various options of 𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙜𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙙𝙞𝙤𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙘 𝙝𝙮𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙄𝙄𝙃. To resume: ➡️ optic nerve fenestration is obsolete, moderately effective & on visual signs only. It does not address other symptoms of IIH. This technique has been widely used but the drawback is a high rate of minor complications & recurrences. ➡️ CSF shunt : effective on all symptoms & fast but the main limitation is the recurrence at 12 months of symptoms around 40%. ➡️ Bariatric surgery is a “physiologic” treatment (BMI more than 35) effective if weight loss of more than 24%. The rate of complications is significative at the post op period & long term. ➡️ Venous stenting appears to be the most appropriate “physiologic” intervention, most effective on symptoms with a recurrence rate at 12 months between 10-15%. Rare but severe brain hemorrhages exist and related to the lack of flexibility, trackability of the stents. Pr. Gobin highlighted the fact that using telescopic multiple stents is a risk factor of having a brain hemorrhage. Using a single long stent could increase the safety of the procedure & limit the complications. 👉 The 2nd speaker highlighted the fact that we are still lacking strong data to guide our decisions and recent metanalysis is showing that only 1/3 of patient benefit for durable clinical benefit. 💡𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝘋𝘳. 🏥 Prehabilitation Before Surgery: Enhancing Patient Success with Physiotherapy 👉 Before undergoing surgery, patients often focus on post-operative recovery. However, there's a critical phase that can significantly impact outcomes: prehabilitation. 👉 Prehabilitation, guided by physiotherapy, involves preparing the body both physically and mentally for the upcoming procedure. Here are five key benefits: 1️⃣ Improved Strength and Flexibility: Prehabilitation exercises tailored by physiotherapists aim to strengthen muscles and improve flexibility, which can enhance post-operative recovery and reduce the risk of complications. 2️⃣ Faster Recovery: By starting rehabilitation before surgery, patients can enter the procedure in better physical condition, leading to quicker recovery times and reduced hospital stays. 3️⃣ Better Pain Management: Prehabilitation focuses on pain management strategies, including exercises, manual therapy, and education, which can help patients better cope with post-operative pain and reduce the need for strong pain medications. 4️⃣ Enhanced Mental Preparedness: Physiotherapy-led prehabilitation not only addresses physical aspects but also prepares patients mentally for the surgery, reducing anxiety and stress while fostering a positive outlook towards recovery. 5️⃣ Optimized Long-Term Outcomes: Investing in prehabilitation sets a foundation for long-term success. Patients who undergo prehabilitation are often better equipped to regain function, mobility, and independence post-surgery, leading to improved quality of life. As physiotherapists, we play a crucial role in advocating for prehabilitation as an integral part of the surgical journey. Let's continue to emphasize its benefits and empower patients to take proactive steps towards better outcomes. 👉 Have you experienced or witnessed the impact of prehabilitation in surgical settings?
