Every successful person has exactly one thing in common: They understand that growth comes from feedback. That's why I really resonate with this saying... I'm sure many of us enjoy compliments. They instantly uplift our spirits, better than... But if we only heard praise constantly, would we ever feel the need to improve? Probably not. We might settle for... feeling flawless all the time. That's where constructive criticism plays a crucial role.... It's not about tearing down... but helping us grow. We might feel uneasy when we receive feedback, Remember, nothing has gone wrong. It's natural to receive different kinds of feedback: Positive and constructive, encouraging and critical. But we can learn from both to grow stronger. Here's how: 1 --> Tell yourself, "Feedback is valuable." It's okay to receive compliments and criticism; it's part of growth. 2 --> Practice active listening: Pay attention to what is being said without immediate judgment. 3 --> Reflect before responding: Take a moment to process feedback before reacting. Embrace the opportunity to learn and improve. Much growth comes from embracing both perspectives. What's your approach to handling feedback? Let’s face it. Nobody likes being criticized. Yet, criticism is an inevitable part of every professional’s journey, whether you’re just starting out or you’re already at the top of your game. And as we all know, feedback isn’t always delivered kindly, especially if it comes from an anonymous source online. Still, true professionals understand that even negative feedback can hold value, regardless of how it’s delivered. Instead of becoming defensive or dismissive, try these strategies to find the lessons (if any) and turn even harsh criticism into an opportunity for growth: 1️⃣ Look for the truth. Even poorly delivered feedback may have a kernel of insight worth considering. Set your ego aside and see if there’s something you can learn. 2️⃣ If the delivery or source makes it hard to process, ask yourself: ❓ Would this message resonate more if it came from someone else? Don’t dismiss feedback just because of who said it. Focus on the message, not the messenger. ❓ Would I consider this feedback more seriously if it had been phrased more kindly? Again, separate the substance of the message from the tone. Even unpleasantly delivered feedback may contain helpful information. Let me be clear—I’m not saying rude or demeaning feedback is acceptable. But I am saying that letting your ego block you from assessing the validity of the critique can be a missed opportunity. If there’s something valuable to take away, be grateful for the insight and use it to grow. If not, let it go and stay focused on your goals. #judyselby #selbystrategies #feedbackmatters #growthmindset #professionaldevelopment #resilience

🔹 Navigating Negative Feedback: A Growth Mindset 🔹 It’s uncomfortable for both the giver and the receiver. But, when approached correctly, even negative feedback can be valuable for both sides. Some reflections: 1. Feedback should always come from a place of positive intent. Even when delivering negative feedback, if the intent isn’t constructive, it crosses the line into criticism. 2. Feedback is simply someone’s perception of reality. It doesn’t have to be accepted as the ultimate truth, but it’s important to remember that it is true from the giver’s perspective. 3. Both the giver and the receiver must be open to questioning their own viewpoints. Feedback is most effective when both parties are willing to reflect and adjust. 4. Negative feedback doesn’t define you. Instead, it’s an opportunity for self-reflection and growth. Decide which aspects are worth considering for positive change. 5. Leave your ego at the door. Ego can block honest reflection, acceptance, and progress—on both sides of the feedback exchange. 6. Be grateful for feedback—even when it’s hard to hear. Wouldn’t you rather know if someone has concerns or negative perceptions? Awareness gives you the power to take action and improve. These thoughts come from my own experience with feedback I received just 24 hours ago. At first, it really knocked me down. But after some reflection, I’ve turned it into an opportunity to grow. What are your strategies for handling tough feedback? I’d love to hear your thoughts—drop them in the comments! #MissionGratitude #Gratitude #SayThankYouMoreOften #NegativeFeedback

Sometimes we feel offended when others point out our weaknesses or blind spots, not realizing that they may be the very people God has chosen to help us improve. While their feedback may not always be delivered in the most pleasant manner, it’s important to look beyond the delivery and appreciate the value of their insights. Disregarding valuable feedback can limit our growth and can cause us to miss opportunities that require a certain level of personal growth. Embracing constructive feedback is essentially embracing growth. However, it is crucial to differentiate between constructive feedback and feedback that is untrue, biased, or intended to undermine you. The latter does not deserve your attention, so don’t waste time considering it. Consider these questions: 1. What constructive feedback have you received recently that you need to pay more attention to? 2. What destructive feedback do you need to stop thinking about? 3. Who do you need to thank for the valuable feedback they have given you? #PersonalDevelopment #SelfAwareness #Feedback #GrowthMindset #SelfImprovement

Today I want to share my thoughts on The Power of Feedback in Achieving Self- Mastery 💡🌱". In the journey towards personal and professional excellence, self-reflection emerges as a cornerstone. It's through this introspective lens that we not only confront our truths but begin to sculpt the version of ourselves best equipped for success. However, the path to self-mastery is not one to tread in isolation. The insights from clients, colleagues, friends, family, and mentors serve as invaluable beacons, guiding us through our journey of self-discovery and self-improvement. Understanding how we modulate our responses in varied settings is essential for cultivating what I like to call 'environmental intelligence.' This intelligence is not innate—it is honed through the meticulous collection and consideration of feedback, ensuring we navigate spaces with grace and agility. Over the years, feedback has been my compass, enabling me to lead with empathy and clarity. To help you harness the transformative power of feedback, here are six pivotal questions you can ask your trusted network: 1. What strengths do you believe I should leverage more? This invites insights into your untapped potential. 2. Can you describe a situation where I handled myself well? This solicits positive reinforcement and identifies strengths. 3. Where do you see room for my growth or improvement? Encourages constructive feedback. 4. How do you perceive my interaction with others in a professional setting? Offers perspective on your interpersonal skills. 5. What could I have done differently in our last project or interaction? Seeks actionable insights for future endeavors. 6. Could you share an instance where my actions positively impacted you or the team? Highlights your influence and contributions. Feedback is the mirror through which we can view ourselves from an external perspective, enabling us to dial up or dial down our approaches as necessary, a skill indispensable in today's dynamic environments. It's a tool for growth, a means to self-mastery, and a catalyst for positive change. Engage with your network, seek out feedback, and let it be the guiding light on your path to excellence. Remember, the goal is not only to understand the self but to package our offerings in a way that resonates, uplifts, and inspires. Above all feedback is a gift as my boss emphasizes.
