I had a very delightful conversation with Sheldon L. Eakins, Ph.D. the other day for his Podcast Leading Equity. 😃 Definitely check it out if you don't follow it already! Sheldon asked some great questions - I especially loved exploring the use of the word 'struggle'. We often think of this term negatively, and it can cause us to have sympathy FOR people instead of empathizing WITH them. I like to use the word 'struggle' to explore how we ALL struggle, and that's ok. Life is hard. We can all be the hero of our own story, but it starts with giving ourselves and each other permission to notice where we are faltering and where we have fallen. That's how we know we need to pick ourselves up! 🧡 Thank you, Sheldon, for making space for important conversations like these on student mental health!! 🙏 #mentalhealtheducation #schoolleadership #schoolleaders #schoolsafety #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthprofessionals #mentalhealthawarness #schoolimprovement #schools #bullying #suicideprevention #supportoneanother #principalsschool #psychologist #depression #anxiety #trauma #traumainformed #school #mentalhealthstigma #principal #principals #prejudice #parents #parenting #stigmafree #schoolboards #schoolculture #schooldistricts #schoolprincipals #schoolpsychology #schoolcounselors #schoolcounselor #schoolhealth #schooleducation #schoolpsychologist #bullyingprevention #bullyingawareness #teacherappreciation #resources #teachers #students #teacher #change #future #empathy #help #teachers #teachertraining #teacherlife #teachertips #teachersrock #principals #principalsschool #superintendents #parentsupport #parenthood #parents #parentinglife #parentingtips #parentingcoach #parentingadvice https://lnkd.in/gPu-YiXN

I loved chatting with Ross Romano about the overlap between student and teacher mental health. Ross asked some very pointed and helpful questions to really get to the core of this issue!! Tune in to hear us explore: 1. Why should teachers be dealing with the mental health of students when they are not experts in this area? 2. Why should mental health be discussed in schools? Doesn't it take away time from core teaching subjects? 3. How can we protect the mental health of teachers? Educators are creating the future. It's vital that we consider them with as much care are we do our students ❤️ 🙏 #mentalhealtheducation #schoolleadership #schoolleaders #schoolsafety #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthprofessionals #mentalhealthawarness #schoolimprovement #schools #bullying #suicideprevention #supportoneanother #principalsschool #psychologist #depression #anxiety #trauma #traumainformed #school #mentalhealthstigma #principal #principals #prejudice #parents #parenting #stigmafree #schoolboards #schoolculture #schooldistricts #schoolprincipals #schoolpsychology #schoolcounselors #schoolcounselor #schoolhealth #schooleducation #schoolpsychologist #bullyingprevention #bullyingawareness #peersupport #peertopeer #peergroups #peerlearning #peermentoring #peercoaching #peer2peer #supportgroups #supportnetwork #youngpeople #youth #youarenotalone #supportoneanother #prejudice #vulnerabilityisstrength #teacherappreciation #resources #teachers #students #teacher #change #future #empathy #help #teachers #teachertraining #teacherlife #teachertips #teachersrock #principals #principalsschool #superintendents https://lnkd.in/g6Aqh_TN
