Interesting article by Philip Napoli on relationship between political actors and media research: “Abstract This article examines ongoing efforts to discourage disinformation and hate speech research in the U.S. These initiatives originate from a variety of institutional actors, including digital platforms, congressional committees, state attorneys general, and advocacy organizations. It employs the conceptual framework of agnotology, which refers to the study of deliberate culturally or politically induced ignorance. Through an analysis of over 1,800 pages of primary documents, it identifies the strategic approaches employed, the outcomes, and the broader democratic implications associated with these efforts to create and maintain knowledge gaps in the disinformation and hate speech arenas.”

**New Publication** In our latest publication, "Protecting Racial Justice Advocates from the Harms of Institutional Betrayal at Predominantly White Institutions," authors Christin Mujica M.A., Taylen Day, Evan Hinchliffe, David C. Stanley Jr., PhD, and Ana Bridges discuss the many challenges faced by racial justice advocates at PWIs. They argue that while advocacy to dismantle racism is meaningful and may promote resilience, it may also expose people to institutional betrayal and subsequently additional harms such as racial trauma, discrimination, exclusion, and burnout. This article is part of our special issue on Institutional Betrayal and Academic Trauma.

Our theme this month is the act of transformation – like when a seed transforms into a flower. A seed is nourished and nurtured with tender care – this means it will eventually transform into a flower. Survivors use their lived experiences to change the future – this means your story transforms into your strength. Systems are well overdue for an overhaul – this means voices need to be heard to transform arenas like the justice system into something actually beneficial for survivors and abusers alike. This month, we’ll explore the act of transformation: what’s needed for it, how we can support others through it, and everything in between!

It is that time of year again! The Peter Jaffe Lecture is an annual event highlighting issues in domestic violence. This year's topic is "Keeping children visible in domestic violence research, policy and practice: What have we learned in 30 years?" Presentation: Intersections and Interventions - Making Visible The Invisible Violence of Power. This lecture, discussing Equity Studies in Education, focuses on the role of the mainstream media in making visible, hyper-visible and invisible the violence of power. Through intersectional frames of analysis of specific spectacular cases of violence, Dr. Yasmin Jiwani interrogates how frames make certain bodies legible by situating them in a matrix of meaning that rationalizes certain kinds of responses and valuations of worthiness and grievability. Dr. Jiwani ends with an examination of various tactical interventions as pedagogies of hope in countering and talking back to the violence(s) of power.
