Are you ready for lesson observations? It’s easy to view them as a threat, but remember, observations are focused on how the class is learning, not just on your teaching. Gavin Beart, Divisional Managing Director for Reed’s education division, shares some top tips for preparing for an observation: Focus on Student Engagement: Ensure your students are actively participating and engaged in the lesson. Clear Objectives: Have clear learning objectives and communicate them effectively to your students. Reflect and Adapt: Be open to feedback and ready to adapt your teaching methods to improve student learning outcomes. Showcase Best Practices: Highlight the best practices you use in your classroom to facilitate learning. Embrace observations as an opportunity to showcase your strengths and enhance your teaching practice! You can find them here: https://lnkd.in/ep9mTnq6

With KS2 scores <80-109 it is impossible to find out learners prior knowledge with many widely used strategies. And, the vast majority of strategies are reactive, finding out during a lesson or at the end of teaching a unit. These approaches have developed misconceptions around 'prior knowledge' and is why many baseline assessments contain questions from the current curriculum (KS3/4) and is where many strategies probe and not the foundation prior knowledge (KS1/2) upon which all new knowledge is built. A true finding out culture is proactive rather than reactive, finding out before teaching, before children develop learned helplessness, before small issues escalate into unmanageable situations, before children become regular visitors to isolation units or before children are placed on managed moves, suspended or excluded. Session 2 - How to Find Out? Thursday 12th December, 4pm-5pm online Visit www.inclass.uk for link to eventbrite.
