Sarah McIntosh, director of people at Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) England, told HR magazine employers must step up to support mental wellbeing around the holidays. She said: “While Christmas is an enjoyable time of the year for many, it’s important employers recognise some people find the festive period challenging for a variety of reasons. “From the cost of living crisis and the added pressure of gift giving and festive socials to increased loneliness during this time. Employers need to be mindful of these factors and adapt policies to help and support their people.” While Christmas is often described as the most wonderful time of the year, we know that it can be challenging for so many people and with the ongoing cost of living crisis, things may feel even harder this year. The financial impact of the festivities as well as the time off work can put additional pressures on many employees so it’s important that workplaces foster a safe and supportive working environment that gives employees the opportunity to say things are not okay and that they may need help. t Robertson Cooper, we empower Wellbeing Champions to serve as a first point of contact for their colleagues, offering support, promoting wellbeing initiatives, and ensuring everyone feels heard not just during the holidays, but all year round. By creating a network of champions, organisations build resilience, foster connection, and develop a culture of care that thrives beyond Christmas. #employeehealth #workplacewellbeing #festiveseason

After completing two major projects at Exygy, I noticed my migraines resurfacing. Juggling responsibilities in the sandwich generation, I often use my PTO for caregiving. With family members of all ages relying on me, I realized the importance of rest. As an HR Partner, I advocate for time off, recognizing the impact of cognitive overload. Taking cues from the Harvard Business Review, I'm prioritizing self-care and stepping away for a few days to celebrate the July 4th holiday and rest. #WorkLifeBalance #MentalHealthAwareness https://buff.ly/3DmcATg

I think wellbeing weeks are absolutely brilliant and to me feel completely different from regular annual leave. I shall savour this last one MHFA England®. A few thoughts about what make it different and so valuable 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼 #MentalHealth #WellbeingAtWork #WellbeingWeek
💭 What is the difference between a wellbeing break and annual leave? 💭 1️⃣ The whole organisation closes 2️⃣ Therefore, we're not passing extra responsibilities onto our colleagues while we're away 3️⃣ With the whole team away, projects pause and significantly fewer emails are landing in our inbox, saving time and removing the worry of catching up when we return 4️⃣ There isn’t any pressure to plan anything. Unlike annual leave, which is often taken ‘to do something,’ a wellbeing break allows people to rest For this year's Summer Wellbeing Week, our office and phone lines will be closed from 4pm on Friday 26 July until 9am on Monday 5 August. This week (24th - 30th June) is World Wellbeing Week and, as a company dedicated to keeping people safer, it is an opportunity for us to highlight the things we do and reflect on what else we could be doing to care for the wellbeing of our team. Our mission is to be the provider of innovative solutions for a safer future, meaning we are constantly focused on safety hazards for road workers and road users so that we can develop smart ideas, creative designs and new technology to reduce risk. Our people are at the heart of our business, and we are committed to innovating in the way we care for their wellbeing too, here’s how: 👷♀️ We ensure that everyone has the correct PPE, including face-fit masks, along with comfortable accommodation and meal allowances when they need to work away from home. 🏋️ We offer benefits including discounted gym memberships and a cycle to work scheme, which are helping to keep our people fit and active. 🤝 We have an Employee Assistance Programme and four fully trained Mental Health First Aiders, so people always have someone to talk to. 🫶 We support initiatives that help people feel great inside and out, including our recent movement challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, desk yoga for Mental Health Awareness Week and our volunteering scheme. Wellbeing is not a one-off tick in a box, it's a long-term culture, and definitely one that's important to us here at Highway Care! #worldwellbeingweek #wellbeing #wellness #mentalhealth #safety #employeewellbeing #innovativesolutionsforasaferfuture #highwaycare

Take time out when you need it! 🧘♀️✨ This week, I’ve walked my talk and taken a much-needed pause after a whirlwind weekend of moving my eldest into uni 🎓 and juggling a wellbeing fair on Saturday! 🎉 Life is hectic, and as parents, we often put ourselves last on the priority list. But here's the truth: you can't pour from an empty cup. Taking time out is not a luxury, it’s a necessity! Positive psychology reminds us that recharging our minds and bodies leads to more resilience, better decision-making, and improved well-being for both ourselves and our families. 💡 So if you're feeling stretched thin—give yourself permission to pause. Whether it's a quiet walk, a few mindful minutes, or simply sitting with a cup of tea, that time is an investment in your happiness and the happiness of those around you. Your well-being matters, too! 🌟 #PositivePsychology #ParentingWellness #TakeTimeForYou #Resilience #SelfCareMatters
