Founder & CEO at Bionema | Helping farmers, growers, greenkeepers & foresters with biological pest control solutions through biopesticides, biostimulants & biofertilisers | Winner of King’s Award in Innovation - 2024

Let's come together to celebrate the wonders of Agricultural Biologicals and the incredible potential of Microbes! It's fascinating to think that we've only scratched the surface with less than 0.1% of the microbes known to us. Just imagine the possibilities if we could uncover a fraction more in the coming years through our state-of-the-art facilities! Advancements in the biocontrol sector have occurred over the past couple of decades. Despite increasing demand and adoption rates, progress in crop protection and plant health innovation has been somewhat stagnant. The journey of biologicals often faces obstacles, such as prolonged innovation and regulatory processes. This is happening even as the EU sets goals to reduce pesticide usage by 50% and synthetic fertiliser use by 20% by 2030. This situation presents an opportunity to delve deeper into magic, RNAi technology and biofilm advancements to revolutionise how we safeguard crops and manage plant health. Come along with me as we engage in discussions, learn from each other, and turn our thoughts into solutions. Let's not passively observe – let's actively participate in conversations and drive change! #Agriculture #Biologicals #Microbes #Innovation #SustainableFarming #PlantHealth #Biocontrol #CropProtection #RNAi #Biofilm #Agritech #Sustainability #GreenFarming lets make an impact! 🌍🚜

Delve deeper into magic. Muck and magic is how many farmers and growers see these biological offers.

It's a very Thought-provoking discussion and it should go ahead because the coming world would definitely turn towards biocontrol rather than chemicals

I did reply but it seems to have vanished. The gist was that the EU regulations are in my opinion right. When you are looking at incorporating specific live microbial inputs it is imperative to be sure they don't overpopulate the microbiome or produce mutations that are hazardous or pathogenic to non target species or other life forms! Admittedly chemicals can accumulate and react and we need to observe and regulate their use. Biologicals can replicate very rapidly and mutate and may not always remain benign harmless alternatives and therefore need oversight. Perhaps even more so than chemicals.
