Binnies are delighted to be supporting Thames Water to better understand the condition of their clean water network.  Binnies have successfully delivered the first two phases of pipeline condition assessment surveys using the innovative Dynamic Response Imaging™ technology from our strategic partners KenWave Solutions Inc. Congratuation Electro Scan UK and Brad Weston as more UK and European water utilities adopt Electro Scan pipe condition assessment after realizing that CCTV (and AI-CCTV) risk fixing the wrong pipes. A major factor causing persistent and continued sewer back-ups, flooding, and contamination of rivers & beaches. Machine-intelligent solutions from Electro Scan are the only ways to accurately assess cracks, joints, and service connections (THE BIG THREE) to determine pipe condition of sewer and stormwater assets. Joints that look OK on CCTV (and AI-CCTV) often are the sources of the largest leaks (and infiltration) in most sewer and stormwater pipes. As most industry experts acknowledge, visual inspection (using high resolution TV cameras) fail to correctly assess whether the bell and spigot of a pipe's joint will allow water to enter or exit a pipe. Every month I get calls from venture capitalists and private equity firms that realized too late that CCTV was actually an antiquated technology that can't be improved with upgrades from artificial intelligence. "You mean cities simply get the wrong answer, faster?" is a common response after doing their industry due diligence they should have done before their investment. The UK's AMP8 will require British water utilities to refocus their efforts to eliminate sanitary sewer overflows that contaminate rivers and beaches. So look for CCTV to take on more post-cleaning activities, and less on capital deployment and elimination for use as a QA/QC tool to assess post-repair and rehabilitation effectiveness. It never could. George Leslie are working in collaboration with SLD Pumps and Power trialling the Erica Board.  The Erica module is fitted into the site distribution board and is connected to WIFI to send power usage data. It helps us design and implement cost effective, low carbon temporary power solutions. Our main goal for this initiative is for us to only use Power as and when it is required. Requirements are identified through discussions with the Site Agent during set up and can be easily modified remotely, as and when required. Thanks to the site team at Roughrigg Reservoir for embracing the first trial. The initial findings are showing we have had a reduction in fuel usage which means reductions in carbon and cost.
