Is this the worst ad ever? The Quiznos spongemonkey commercial was one of the worst ads of all time... Although it was buzz-worthy, it killed sales, pissed off franchisees, and was a complete flop. Lesson: While differentiation is critical for success, you can also GO TOO FAR and have it backfire on you. Of course, you never know until you test, but that's the great thing about digital advertising: You can split test ideas on the fly, quickly shut down the losers, and elevate the winners BEFORE any major damage is done. After moving away from being a chef, my early career was in digital marketing and social media. Over 400K organic views! But there’s more to it. Back in March of this year, we launched a Sonic x Angry Birds 2 collaboration and created a fun trailer to promote it. Initially, it performed well, thanks to cross-promotion in-game and on the website. What’s truly remarkable, though, is how this video has continued to keep some momentum. Even months later, it’s still racking up views, consistently hitting milestones – 300k, 350k, and now 400k – long after the event ended. In fact, half of those views came after the initial surge. It’s a great reminder that while content is often judged on its immediate success, sometimes the pieces that resonate most take time and should be viewed as a long-term investment in a channel.
