Here is an example of helping a Med Affairs/Clin Ops person be more relevant for clin Dev positions. Many want to make this jump - for anyone with a similar problem: ❌Remove references to KOL and Organising Symposiums/events etc - not relevant. ✅Instead focus on site openings, patient recruitment / trial budgets, study Maintence/Closing/Openings. ❌Reduce keywords such as Medical Affairs, Drug Launch etc ✅Increase Keywords such as Phase III / IV trials, Oncology, Study Protocol Reviews ❌Dont do: Tell your whole story in every detail on your CV and expect others to understand, high risk of confusion. ✅To do: Keep it only relevant to that position - tell your story during the interview (if at all). Many with a Clin Ops/ MA background can jump into Clinical Development. They just need to create the right story. If you not getting many job interviews - or - the candidates who are applying are not fitting. Drop me a note anytime. p.s. - Relevancy is not the same as lying - dont twist or create if its simply not true. As a medical affairs consultant, I have the opportunity to be on the outside looking into the current medical affairs job market. The considerable business development activity that takes place in my world is akin to the time engaging in the traditional job application process, which is more streamlined in some ways and cumbersome in others. My recent professional trajectory has had me recruiting and/or interviewing. With extensive experience on both sides of the table, I can strongly empathize with the candidate mindset, which I have leveraged to make that “first impression connection.” It has also underpinned my success as a medical affairs team builder and leader. From what I have observed during the past few years, competition for medical affairs jobs has never been more intense, again, on both sides of the table. This has spurred some employers to get creative to recruit, retain, and reassure their workforces. Posting job requisitions for jobs that do not exist (i.e., “ghost job”) is one technique that employers are increasingly using. From the employer’s perspective, I see the utility of this approach. It is certainly not what I would personally deem “above board,” especially from a candidate’s perspective, but business is business, right? On the other side, employee loyalty is not what it used to be, and I do recognize that candidates are not always altruistic in their practices either. Plainly speaking, the employer-candidate dynamic is a subtle pas-de-deux of facades, each side putting its best foot forward while not “over sharing,” lest either side second-guesses the other. It remains an unavoidable rite of passage, which may eventually disappear with AI all but choosing your next CEO without so much as a virtual meeting over lunch. I exaggerate and digress (a little), but there is some truth there. Time is our most valuable currency that we can trade with each other . . . personally or professionally. With so little “disposable time” available these days to share as we like, why waste it? Earlier this week, I received an e-mail from a completely unknown sender with the subject line, “Just need 2 hours of your time, Marc.” Really?⌚ I started MEDAMETHEUS to not waste anybody’s time, especially my own, or “ghost” anyone. Partnering with MEDAMETHEUS will be time well spent and begins with an open and honest dialog.👻 #medicalaffairs #consulting #servingneeds #enhancingvalue #optimizingproductivity #ghostbuster #ignitethedialog
