Have you taken a vacation this year? 🏖️✈️ In my book "Don't Die with Vacation Time," I explore why vacations are crucial for our well-being. Research shows they reduce stress, improve heart health, and boost happiness. This isn’t age-specific; everyone benefits from taking breaks. Learn more about the science behind vacations here: https://prn.to/3WDH24q How vacation can benefit you at different life stages: 👉 20s and 30s: Time to explore, learn, and experience new cultures. 👉 40s and 50s: Reconnect with family and reflect on personal and professional goals. 👉 60s and Beyond: Enjoy relaxation, hobbies, and quality time with loved ones. Understanding the evolving importance of vacations through life gives you The Ageless Edge. It's a timeless need for rest and rejuvenation, key to sustained success and happiness. For the next 30 days, I'll be taking a stay-cation to celebrate Richard's 90th birthday. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone back in September, refreshed and ready for new achievements. Maybe it was growing up in Europe - but when I was inside organizations, I always used most of my vacation. Now as a business owner, I try to take break once a quarter - not always a vacation away but something. If it is a staycation - I try to add some 'be a tourist in your own town' adventures to the mix.
Thanks, Andrea (and congratulations to Richard on an impressive milestone). For many years, we spent weekends at the beach at our little cottage there. Haven't done that in over 10 years and I REALLY miss it (lots of mini-vacations). I head to Cape Cod on Sunday; VT in late August; back to Cape Cod in September and Vancouver in October so nothing to complain about 😌.
Love a catchy title and those are words I live by Andrea Goeglein, PhD
Take your vacation is a great message, Andrea Goeglein, PhD. Sometimes for me, it is a 1/2 day with grandkids which completely refreshes me. 😍
I'm on vacation right now in Cape Cod, but I'm planning to work a couple of hours a day on some days. I aspire to be the person who can completely turn everything off for two weeks or more, but I'm not there yet. Thanks for this reminder, though -- vacations are essential!
I love the idea that vacations mean different things to you at different points in your life. Very thought provoking!
Great post and a great point. I just had this conversation today with a colleague. It is hard to go on vacation to wrap everything up put it on hold and just STOP however crucial to rejuvenate.
Enjoy your vacation. We typically plan our next vacation on our way home from the current one.
An excellent book. My favorite vacations are with my family. I can be anywhere with my girls and am instantly reminded that love is the rule. It helps that they are really funny and keep me in a state of joy!

4moI'll never forget when I was sitting in the bar at The Plaza while working on Wall Street talking to a recruiter who said, "would you consider vacation days as part of your compensation?" I said, "yep", and she responded with "why would you give back any compensation you earned to the company?" That was 2+ decades ago but it stuck.
