Contractile performance is an essential function of the human heart. 2-D cardiomyocyte cultures are inadequate for assessing contractility as they cannot perform physiological contractions on rigid plasticware. Novoheart’s human ventricular Cardiac Tissue Strip (hvCTS) offers a superior contractility assay. This assay consists of aligned hvCM in a 3-D hydrogel mixture that is constructed using a custom-designed cartridge with integrated force-sensing posts at the ends. This model has been validated as a sensitive and reliable predictor of clinical drug responses or pathologic effects on cardiac contractility. The CTScreen is Novoheart’s all-in-one screening system for comprehensive cardiac tissue contractility studies. Our unique system enables programmable force measurement protocols, including automated perfusion, electrical stimulation, data acquisition and streamlined data analysis. Customizable cartridges have been designed for the CTScreen to allow multiple tissues to be fabricated and cultured on each cartridge at the same time. All cartridges are compatible with Novoheart’s commercial CTScreen platform. #CTScreen #drugdiscovery #drugscreening #cardiac #3dcellculture #biotech #bioengineering

Welcome, everyone! Today, we're going to explore the fascinating world of CBC machines! As a biomedical engineer, I'm excited to share my knowledge with you and delve into the details of this crucial medical equipment. First, let's start with the basics. A CBC machine, also known as a hematology analyzer, is a medical device that analyzes whole blood specimens and provides valuable insights for diagnosis and treatment. But, to truly understand this machine, we need to go beyond its basic function. To master any machine, you need to know its use, operation, and service and maintenance requirements. in our discussions,We'll explore the types of CBC machines, including 3diff and 5diff analyzers, which differ in their ability to classify white blood cells. #3Diff #5Diff #WhiteBloodCells The 3diff analyzer differentiates between three types of WBC (neutrophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes), while the 5diff analyzer identifies all five types, including basophils and eosinophils. Each type uses different technologies, with 3diff relying on impedance methods and 5diff utilizing cytometry to differentiate WBC based on granularity and cell size. We'll also discuss the operation of CBC machines, including how they perform quantitative analysis of blood elements like red blood cells (RBC), white blood cells (WBC), and platelets. #BloodAnalysis We'll explore the advantages of fully automated systems, which can perform up to 60 tests per hour, and highlight some notable brands like @elektrogenesis Mindray BC6800PLUS and Sysmex America, Inc. XN-Series. #AutomatedSystems #MedicalDeviceBrands Finally, we'll touch on the importance of service and maintenance requirements to ensure accurate results and extend the lifespan of these machines. #MedicalDeviceService #MaintenanceRequirements Stay tuned for more posts, where we'll dive deeper into the operation and principle of operation of these machines! #MoreToCome #CBCMachines #HematologyAnalyzers

Each year, billions of blood tests are performed and - currently - the majority of blood samples are collected by clinicians in a primary care setting. Recent medical innovation is allowing patients to easily self-collect blood and ship it to a lab for testing. The article below by Dennis Poland and Christa Cobbaert gives a great overview of the key players in this space. I am excited and grateful to see Varcode being recognized as a cost-efficient method for recording temperature excursions during the shipment of blood samples. #blood #diagnostics
We are thrilled to see our Varcode Smart Tag™ recognized in the recent article published by Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM)! 🎉 The article highlights the innovative strides in #blood self-sampling devices and emphasizes the importance of accurate and automated temperature registration during sample transportation. Our Smart Tag™ is mentioned as an exemplary solution for ensuring sample integrity and compliance with ISO 15189:2022 standards. 𝗜𝗻-𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 In-line monitoring of critical quality attributes (CQAs) during a tableting process is an essential step toward a real-time release strategy. Such CQAs can be the tablet mass, the API content, dissolution, hardness and tensile strength. Since dissolution testing is laborious and time-consuming and cannot be performed in-line, it is desirable to replace dissolution testing with predictive models based on other CQAs that affect the dissolution characteristics, such as the tablet porosity and hardness. Traditionally, porosity is determined offline via gas adsorption methods or other techniques, such as Terahertz spectroscopy or gas in scattering media absorption spectroscopy.
