Contractile performance is an essential function of the human heart. 2-D cardiomyocyte cultures are inadequate for assessing contractility as they cannot perform physiological contractions on rigid plasticware. Novoheart’s human ventricular Cardiac Tissue Strip (hvCTS) offers a superior contractility assay. This assay consists of aligned hvCM in a 3-D hydrogel mixture that is constructed using a custom-designed cartridge with integrated force-sensing posts at the ends. This model has been validated as a sensitive and reliable predictor of clinical drug responses or pathologic effects on cardiac contractility.  The CTScreen is Novoheart’s all-in-one screening system for comprehensive cardiac tissue contractility studies. Our unique system enables programmable force measurement protocols, including automated perfusion, electrical stimulation, data acquisition and streamlined data analysis. Each type uses different technologies, with 3diff relying on impedance methods and 5diff utilizing cytometry to differentiate WBC based on granularity and cell size. We had great discussions in our packed lunch symposium at New York Valves! Presenters and audience members discussed biomimetic valve design, hemodynamics, and flow dynamics. At Anteris, we believe that in order to mimic the performance of a healthy aortic valve, the replacement valve should be designed like a native valve. This led us to develop a new class of TAVR, a biomimetic valve that is constructed from a single piece of anti-calcification tissue, molded to be native-shaped.
