"IF I am applying for a frontend developer position should I list HTML projects or React projects?" Was asked this question but figured I would also share it here incase others also are confused. Your HTML projects are used to help you learn to reach that next stage. Projects ONLY using HTML are not going to be very impressive to a vast majority of employers. If anything, it may make you seem more of a beginner than you are. Your react projects will be better suited to be displayed but here's the thing, Your projects need to be WORTH talking about and you need to write well about them. Writing "An e-commerce app built using React.js, tailwindcss, etc etc" doesn't tell anyone anything about your work. There is no incentive to even check it out or ask follow-up questions about it. But if your project is explained as "This project solves the logistical issues for inventory on hand for small e-commerce store owners by using an algorithm that automatically reorders inventory before it runs out to ensure product is always on hand but overbuying is not occurring." Big difference in the presentation of the apps. Your projects need to solve problems! #coding #code #programming #softwareengineering
Great advice! Today's time job market is saturated with developer but companies are hiring those developer that have a solving ability, percentage contribution of technology on hiring process on which a developer work is low, because they know if that person has problems solving ability then he can work on any technology,i also saw dallas software group cohort projects topics, they also focused on problem solving ability ,like one of the project is meal planning application based on what you have in your fridge. correct me if i am wrong ,thanks for sharing this, great advice Danny Thompson
Personally I'd answer that it depends on the projects. If React has been used for a content based site without the need for state, I'd wonder why. That's probably an extension of "it needs to solve a problem" :) "Only use HTML projects as a way to learn" also intrigues me - a good static site can certainly still solve a problem!
You spoke rightly king Your Html projects are for learning, use them to grow your technical skills. When you’re before a recruiter, talk about other bigger projects done with latest technologies. Stating the problem you solved with the project. It could be a YouTube video project that you watched but you chose to added a slight new feature that can make it unique You absolutely got this Danny Thompson
Hammad Rehman read it carefully and understand it.
Good to know! Seems very helpful.
Well said!
Helping frontend devs escape tutorial hell and build a real-world app using React's component-based architecture in just 30 days.
6mo📌 You're project needs to solve problems. It's not about your tech stack but the problems you can solve. I love this sir ❤️ Danny Thompson
