SPECIAL EDUCATION TUESDAYS WITH Vicky Wilson-Woko Did you know... 💡Special Education is not just for Persons Living with Disabilities (PLwD). 💡 Anyone can experience sensory sensitivities. 💡ADHD is not a learning disability. 💡Not every child who reverses letters has dyslexia. 💡Not every one with special needs requires special education services. #specialeducationtuesayswithvicky #eylinitiative

Understanding developmental delays in young children is important for parents to support their child's growth effectively. Developmental delay means that your child is growing, learning, and playing at their own pace. It can affect different parts of your child's life, like how they move, talk, play, and understand things. If your child struggles in multiple areas, it might be called global developmental delay, which could last for a short or long time, known as developmental disabilities. But don't worry! Children with developmental delays keep learning and growing; they might just need extra time and support. For example, while some children learn by watching and copying, your child might need things explained step by step and more practice time. The best step is to build a strong partnership with your child’s teacher, so you both can work together on supporting them Leave a ❤️ in the comments below if you found this post helpful! #CelebrateSmallWins #DreamBigTogether #EveryChildMatters #SupportingFamilies #FamilyStrength #DevelopmentDelays #ParentingJourney #EarlyChildhoodSupport #EmpoweringFamilies #NDIS #EarlyIntervention #EmpoweredKids #InclusiveEducation #SupportiveParenting #ChildDevelopmentJourney #EveryChildEveryPossibility #WatchThisSpace #CommunityOfPractice #ReimagineAustralia

This week, we delved into Module 8: Everyday Activities from our Baby Ubuntu program at Ummeed Child Development Center, a participatory group initiative designed for caregivers of children with developmental disabilities. Co-facilitated by expert parent, this program spans 12 comprehensive modules. In this module, we brought together all the insights and skills we've acquired so far, focusing on leveraging everyday activities as opportunities for inclusion and participation. Caregivers practiced: - Good positioning - Engaging play - Effective communication These groups aims to empower caregivers to integrate these practices into daily routines, ensuring that every activity becomes a chance for growth and inclusion for their children. #ChildDevelopment #EarlyIntervention #InclusiveCare #ParentSupport #BabyUbuntu #UmmeedChildDevelopmentCenter #EverydayActivities #DevelopmentalDisabilities #CaregiverEmpowerment
