SEP's recent analysis of 388 early-stage hydrogen companies in the US led to three initial conclusions. 1. The excitement around innovative, new technologies focused on the production and use of low-carbon hydrogen is warranted. 2. There is a significant gap when it comes to startups disrupting an equally important piece of the puzzle... the moving and storing of that low-carbon hydrogen. 3. Dilutive plus non-dilutive capital inflows to the companies broke over $1B annually starting in 2020 and has increased significantly since then. In recent climate news, Woodinville based clean tech startup Modern Hydrogen has raised $25 million in a new funding round, backed by a mix of existing and new investors. 🙌🏻 “We plan to talk more about our new strategic partnerships after the New Year that expands into new markets, and how we can enhance the value of existing gas infrastructure already on the ground, and speed up carbon capture and utilization,” - Modern Hydrogen CEO Tony Pan The company’s methane pyrolysis reactor transforms natural gas or biogas into clean hydrogen fuel and solid carbon. The hydrogen can be used for energy, industrial processes, and fuel cells, while the solid carbon is valuable for applications such as asphalt production. #Hydrogen #StartUp #ClimateTech #Investment
