“As rowers, we’re out all hours on rivers like this [the River Cam], and we get to care about them. Almost every single sample we’ve had from the River Cam has been bad or very bad water quality. It has been quite eye-opening for us as river users." 💧🧪 #FreshWaterWatch is our global movement of volunteers who test their local water quality and help us build a picture of freshwater health across the UK. 🙏 Thank you to Susannah Cass, Programme Manager of East Anglia Youth Rowing, and their young people for joining the fight for healthy fresh water! 💙 Double the hope for our rivers by supporting us in the Big Give #ChristmasChallenge this week. Until Tuesday 10 December, all donations will be doubled! ✨ Donate today via the Big Give website 👉 https://lnkd.in/epgTUB9D #CitizenScience #WaterTesting #WaterPollution #SaveOurRivers #BigGive #ChristmasAppeal

Living by the sea has been truly inspirational for me. Spending hours on the water rowing, sailing, and walking along the coastline has been a source of joy and motivation. Recently, starting the October Dip a day challenge has shed light on the state of our waters. It's clear that action is needed from all of us now more than ever. We all have the power to make a difference. Whether it's through donations, picking up and clearing away garbage, or being mindful of what we put down our drains, each small action contributes to a cleaner environment. This is a call to action - let's all do something to protect our waters. Together, we can create a positive impact. #EnvironmentalAction #ProtectOurWaters

✊ This #GivingTuesday, you can help us restore rivers: our Big Give fundraiser is now live! From now until the 10th of December, we’re part of the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge, where donations to our work are doubled 💰💰 through match funding. Support our work here: https://buff.ly/3ZqQtXN In the wake of #BlackFriday, there’s been a lot of conversation on social media platforms about purchasing with purpose. Fundraising initiatives like this are a lifeline for charities and a chance for you to feel confident that your pounds are being put to good use. Our rivers are in a dire state, and your support is vital for us to do what we do best: fight for better rivers across the UK and Ireland. If you’ve ever considered supporting The Rivers Trust, there’s no better time to do so than this week as every pound is matched at no extra cost to you. Every £10 you donate becomes £20 for our work, and your gift will help us have twice the impact in 2025. Here's what your donations go towards: 👇 🎞️ You can also help by sharing this video. 🙏 For any gift, big or small, we’d like to say a huge thank you. #theriverstrust #rivers #riverhealth #endsewagepollution #sewage #nature #environment #biggive #christmaschallenge #wildlife #waterquality #waterhealth #purpose #fundraising #charity #charityfundraiser #climatesolutions #restorenature #restorenaturenow #marchforcleanwater #river #pollution #pollutionfree #donate #support #donation #nonprofit Mark Lloyd

Join us in making a difference with Optima Living's annual Food Bank Day Challenge! This annual initiative helps build community through compassion and goes beyond donations—it's about uniting to support those in need and spread goodwill. Why is supporting food banks so vital? Across Canada, many struggle with food insecurity. Last year, we donated over 20,000 pounds (about 9300 kg) of food, providing 24,650 meals. This year, we're aiming even higher—30,000 pounds (about 13,600 kg)! Every can and dollar counts, directly helping those in need. Participating means bolstering local economies and strengthening community bonds. From now until September 6th, our Alberta and BC residences will compete to gather the most donations, adding a fun and spirited element to our efforts. Get involved by donating non-perishable food items or a monetary amount at your nearest Optima Living residence. https://lnkd.in/gJYi6NEZ Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Together, let's exceed our goals, inspire hope, and create lasting change. Show what the #OptimaWay is all about—compassion, community, and making a positive impact. #OptimaLiving #FoodBankChallenge #CommunitySupport #GivingBack

The Short Version: Ancora Ministries is trying to raise $15,000 this month to buy a 2nd vehicle in Guatemala, and I’m not going to shave until we have what we need. Nobody wants to look at my scruffy mug, so would you consider donating to this campaign? https://lnkd.in/gPshB-eF The Longer Version: We might be on Day #921 of Silly Socks (You’ll find them in the comments.) but it’s Day #7 of No Shave July/Summer/However Long It Takes. If you know me, you know I do silly stuff to being attention to things I think are important. Things like helping Ancora eradicate child hunger & malnutrition in Central Texas and Guatemala. This particular stunt is about the Guatemala part. Guatemala is somewhat spread out, and turns out, it takes multiple teams to serve the 20 communities where Ancora has nutrition programs. Currently we have 2 teams and 1 vehicle to serve a geographic footprint that takes 7 hours to drive from northernmost community to southernmost. We need to buy another used vehicle so that both of our teams can serve their geographic areas. True Story: If we’re going to make a difference in the malnutrition fight, we’re going to need the infrastructure - like personnel and transportation - to do it. This fundraiser is hugely important in helping us serve the kids in our 20 communities, AND it sets us up to continue to add children (and communities) to our programs. Thinking of those among us who see their bucket list from a whole different perspective... Hunger impacts millions around the world. In fact, it's believed that 820 million people internationally face hunger in some way, a number which has increased in recent years. Many charities and organizations have dedicated their missions to combatting these struggles and lowering that number, whether in specific communities, focused on specific people, or more generally around the world. Check out these 15 organizations and their people who are making a difference @ https://lnkd.in/gh8DA_BE
