Next up, attendees heard from Burnley College’s Cameron Barker-Allan on what the future workforce are looking for from employers. Cameron spoke of his own personal experiences in employment as well as his peers, plus the key things employers can implement today to increase their appeal to the younger generations entering the workforce - including the seemingly overlooked importance of rethinking your job titles when recruiting (including avoiding putting all support roles into the ‘admin’ category), and rewording things to appeal to a younger audience. There was a stress on meeting the non-negotiables for many entering the workforce - including a sense of responsibility from day one, a decent level of pay, and the ever-divisive ability to work from home. He also opened up the discussion of degree apprentices - how many roles in our local companies could fit the criteria and make use of the LEVY funding? #ChamberAssembly #ElectionSpecial #EmploymentLaw
Great event. Learned loads and got the chance to hang out with some cool cats. 🌹 😎 🐈⬛ 🐈
I’m all for leaving job titles to the history books. 🤞🤔
Well done Cameron. It was good to listen to your perspective and experience to date. I found this really useful.
