"This is what really matters to patients when time becomes more limited and more valued." #behindpatienteyes By understanding what really is important to patients and their caregivers and by asking enough of them in a meaningful way, we can better support patients. It was interesting to see in yesterdays post that fear/depression was considered the most burdensome aspect for those cancer patients, and that the burden due to visits to the doctor was rated higher than symptoms of the disease. This is what really matters to patients when time becomes more limited and more valued. #behindpatienteyes These are areas that healthcare, pharma and patient groups can directly support to improve if they work with patients, their caregivers and healthcare professionals. Patients can provide valuable input into what was positive and negative in their diagnosis journey, what information and options they were provided with, the clinical trial options that were offered, why they did or did not consider clinical trials, their treatment experience and their experience as their patient journey continued. Each patient in each indication, country and community will have a different story to share. From future approaches to diagnosis, to ways to communicate options and treatment pathways, patients can offer valuable insights to help reduce fear / stress and create a higher quality patient journey. #patientengagement #healthcare #patientjourney #patientinsights #clinicaldevelopment #medicalaffairs #patienteducation

It's Week 3 of #BreastCancerAwarenessMonthWeek and this week we are going to highlight some of the issues that #MetastaticBreastCancer patients face around clinical trials. Clinical trials represent hope for MBC patients - they could be the first to access a new life-extending treatment. But there are issues in finding and accessing clinical trials. Our patient blogs this week highlight the issues that we face... The joy of getting on a trial to the sadness and the upset of it not working or being denied because you have had too many treatments already and not deemed "fit enough" to be accepted on a trial... #WhoReallyCares #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #BCAM #costofliving #severitymodifier #METUPUK #DarkerPink #BusyLivingWithMets #IAmThe31 #waitingroomfeet #BreastCancer #BreastCancerCommunity #BreastCancerJourney #BreastCancerSupport #DyingForACure #EarlyDetectionSavesLives #MetastaticBreastCancerAwareness #SecondaryBreastCancer #SecondarySisters #Stage4NeedsMore #StageIVNeedsMore #AdvancedBreastCancer #clinicaltrials

The recent publication of the economic evaluation I co-authored is receiving excellent coverage. A recent study highlights the significant benefits of at-home palliative care provided by paramedics. This patient-centred approach aligns with patient preferences, saves paramedic time and reduces costs. An estimated $2,773 is saved per 9-1-1 call when paramedics provide person-centred care in the homes of people living with cancer and other life-limiting conditions.
