Hacked, Restricted, and Finally Reunited with My LinkedIn Account 🚨🚨 Two weeks ago, I faced one of the scariest moments in my digital life—my LinkedIn account was hacked and subsequently restricted. Losing access to a platform that connects me with my professional network and opportunities was nothing short of a nightmare. Along with this I have faced a lot of other issues also. Losing access felt like losing a part of my professional identity—it was frustrating, scary, and honestly, disheartening. For two weeks, I anxiously waited, hoping to regain what I thought might be lost forever. But today, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief—I’m back. I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to LinkedIn Help Care for their support during this difficult time. What I Learned (and What I Hope You’ll Take Away): 1️⃣ Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): I can’t stress this enough—it’s a game-changer for account security. 2️⃣ Be Wary of Suspicious Connection Requests: Always double-check before accepting anyone's connection request and also check if there is sudden increase in followers on your account or anything looks unfamiliar. 3️⃣ Use Strong, Unique Passwords: Make your accounts as secure as possible. 4️⃣ Monitor Your Account Activity: Spot unusual activity before it’s too late. 5️⃣ Reach Out for Help: LinkedIn’s support team is there for you—don’t hesitate to use them if needed. This experience taught me just how vulnerable we all are online. To my network: Please take these measures seriously to avoid going through the stress I faced. Thank you for being patient with me during my absence, and thank you again to LinkedIn Help Care for bringing me back where I belong. 💙 #Hacked #Grateful #Cybersecurity #StaySafe

Today is the first day of October, the tenth month in the Gregorian calendar—a month when the leaves turn into beautiful shades and also marks the beginning of Cyber Security Month! You may have heard stories about a pensioner who believed she was in an online relationship with a supposed American soldier, 20 years her junior, only to lose a significant amount of money in the name of love. My initial reaction is always, and I mean always: "How can someone be so naïve and stupid? But is it really naïveté and stupidity? Or are these scams so meticulously designed that, just because we sometimes spot something suspicious, we assume everyone has the same instincts/knowledge? How many of you would confidently say, "No one could ever scam me"? just because we believe we know what to look out for—we trust in our ability to Google and/or double-check things. Yet, all it takes is one moment of carelessness. Maybe you clicked on a link and entered personal details because you were expecting a delivery, and the email seemed to come from the company. Or perhaps you hastily shared your birth date because an email from your "bank" warned you that your account had been blocked, and the only way to resolve it was to verify your information. These situations happen more easily than we think, reminding us to stay vigilant, especially as cyber threats continue to evolve. Just a gentle reminder (also to myself!"): Act online as you would in real life. 🖇️ Read more about the wonderful new world of cyber scams: https://lnkd.in/ev2NwtGu #Choose2BeSafeOnline #CyberSecMonth #ThinkB4UClick

In researching an upcoming How Hacks Happen episode on Catfishing, I stumbled upon this fascinating graph showing how heterosexual couples meet. The big takeaway: More couples currently meet online than through friends, family, or work. Normally I'd say something here like, "How did you meet your significant other?" to increase post engagement, but I know too much about micro-aggregation of data from social media comments. So don't do that. Instead, make something up! So, how did you meet your SO? :D Source: https://lnkd.in/gtmT4Uvc #cybersecurity #catfished #technology

Memes time 😀 Me - a little bit of fun and a good mood can help you live longer. Especially if someone can do great things with a sense of self-irony. Also me - looking at what's happening in the world today, sometimes I doubt whether living longer is actually a benefit. 😅 P.S. Thanks for this meme for my friend. It's hard to imagine how many times someone writes proprietary information in different apps, thinking it won't be available to a third party. But that's another, much more serious topic for discussion. #Memes #FridayFeeling #Cybersecurity #DataPrivacy #TechHumor #PositiveMindset

Back after a Break… and with an Unexpected Story! Exactly 16 days ago, my LinkedIn account got hacked. I was going about my day when I realised something was off – my profile picture was changed, my skills were updated, and I had new connections with, let’s just say, less-than-pleasant conversations. Someone from New York had hacked my account, and I was in complete shock. I immediately contacted LinkedIn’s help center, explained the urgency, and they temporarily blocked my account. To prove my identity, I had to submit my national ID. After a series of emails back and forth with LinkedIn Help, I was finally allowed to reset my password. I thought that was the end of it. But to my dismay, even though the hacker no longer had access, my profile still wasn’t restored to how it used to be. My posts, my content, everything I had built over the past year was gone. LinkedIn gave me an option: compromise the account, lose everything, accept the changes, and move on. I can't begin to explain how disheartening it felt to realize that all my work, effort, and content from the past year could disappear in one go. For someone like me, who isn’t active on any other social media, this felt like a hard lesson about cybersecurity. But here I am, taking it as a learning experience. It was a much-needed break from LinkedIn, but I never imagined my first post back would be about recovering from a hacked account! 💻🔒 #LinkedInRecovery #CyberSecurityAwareness #HackedAccount #OnlineSafety #LearningExperience #SocialMediaSafety #DataProtection #CyberCrime #StaySafeOnline #LinkedInHelp #ComebackStory

The Vows of Digital Trust - A Cybersecurity Twist! In the digital age, where data privacy is paramount, a humorous take by Cybersecurity Ventures reminds us to reflect on our own online habits. Their comic, "Hacking Marriage," portrays a wedding with a twist: the couple vows to read each other's texts and emails. 😄 While it's all in good fun, it raises an important question: How much do we trust our partners with our digital lives? And more importantly, how do we protect our privacy in a world where sharing is just a click away? Tips for Maintaining Data Privacy in Relationships: 1. Communicate Boundaries. Discuss comfort levels regarding digital privacy with your partner. 2. Use Strong Passwords. Keep your accounts secure and avoid sharing access. 3. Respect Privacy. Trust is key. Don't snoop through your partner's personal messages. 4. Stay Informed. Educate each other on the latest cybersecurity practices. Remember, in a healthy relationship, love means respecting each other's digital space too! 💕 Cybersecurtiy Cartoon from @CybersecurityVentures #techtip #Cybersecurity #DataPrivacy #DigitalTrust #HealthyRelationships #Cybersecurityventures
