Excited to share my latest article in the International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage TICCIH - Official Page Bulletin (Q4 2024) exploring the transformation and contested heritage of Sydney's Darling Harbour. The piece examines how this historic maritime-industrial precinct, Australia's first centre of commerce, faced significant redevelopment pressures in the 1980s. The story of Darling Harbour serves as an important case study of how cities grapple with their industrial past and raises critical questions about urban heritage conservation in the face of economic development pressures. The full article, "Rediscovering the Forgotten: The Industrial Identity of Sydney's Darling Harbour", is attached. #IndustrialHeritage #UrbanDevelopment #Sydney #Conservation #TICCIH #UrbanHistory
