🚀 SAVE THE DATE 💪 #Vietnam #Defence Expo 19-22 December 2024 Over the past two decades, Vietnam has aggressively pursued military modernisation, backed by a substantial surge in defence spending - from USD $841 million in 2003 to $5.8 billion in 2022, with ongoing growth projections reaching over ~$8 billion annually by 2027. Viet Nam national defence is invested in alignment with the country's socio-economic development pace, designed to bolster defence capabilities for safeguarding the nation without getting involved in an arms race. Viet Nam consistently allocates over 2% of its GDP to the national defence budget each year (Source: 2019 National Defence White Paper) This investment drive is guided by Hanoi's strategic resolution to build a "streamlined, strong and modern" military force capable of safeguarding the nation's long-term interests. Key priorities fuelling procurement efforts include enhancing maritime force projection capabilities, acquiring new naval combatants, and developing integrated coastal defences to bolster maritime domain awareness in the contested coastal region. Modernising Vietnam's aging air force and air defence systems is another critical imperative, alongside fortifying military communications infrastructure, counter-unmanned aerial systems (UAS) capabilities, and integrating innovative dual-use technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous systems, and the Internet of Things (IoT) across the entire spectrum of command, control, and battlefield operations.
