Egypt’s tourism sector revenues saw a 5% increase to $6.6 billion in the first half of 2024 from $6.3 billion during the first half of 2023. Rabat’s tourism sector is experiencing a strong year in 2024, marked by a notable increase in overnight stays. According to the Tourism Observatory, the number of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation establishments (EHTC) rose by 4% during the first ten months of the year. Morocco’s #tourism industry is surging in 2024, with a 12.8% increase in tourist arrivals in the first quarter compared to the same period last year. According to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF), tourist arrivals reached 3.3 million by the end of March, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by a significant 31.6% compared to the first quarter of 2019.

Tourist spending in #SaudiArabia reached approximately SR150 billion ($40 billion) in the first half of 2024, reflecting a 10 percent increase in both traveler numbers and #expenditure compared to the same period the previous year, as revealed by a top minister. Türkiye witnessed a 13.9% annual rise in visitor numbers during the first half of 2024 to 26.1 million. Tourism revenues during the same period rose 9.3% to $23.7 billion. The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism recently announced Türkiye’s 2024 first-half results revealing that the average daily expenditure per visitor reached $98. Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of Culture and Tourism, said that the first six months’ results confirmed Türkiye’s commitment to its year-end target of 60 million visitors and $60 billion in revenues. #Morocco has crowned itself #Africa's most-visited destination, welcoming 17.4 million tourists in 2024—just a year after a deadly earthquake struck near its star destination, #Marrakesh. The milestone gives Morocco an edge over #Egypt, which had long led the continent in tourism.
