The International Olympic Committee – IOC emphasizes using renewable #energy, #reducingwaste, and ensuring long-term community benefits from Olympic infrastructure. The Games also raise global awareness about #sustainability and adopt international standards, such as ISO 20121, for sustainable event management. Through these efforts, the Olympics aim to inspire broader adoption of sustainable practices worldwide. Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024 aims to be the most #sustainable Olympic Games to date. Key initiatives include achieving #carbon neutrality, using #renewableenergy, and promoting low-carbon transportation. Most venues will use existing or temporary structures to minimize new construction, and there will be a strong focus on #waste reduction and circular economy practices. The Games will also enhance urban #biodiversity and prioritize social inclusivity and accessibility. Paris 2024 is setting a new standard for sustainability in the Olympics!  They've pledged to cut their carbon footprint in half compared to previous Games.  This is a big step forward, and they're achieving it through some innovative methods: * The Aquatic Centre With a 5,000 sqm roof covered with photovoltaic panels, it will be one of France’s largest urban solar farms and supply all the energy that the centre needs. * Athletes’ Village Shaded Solar Structure The Athletes' Village bus station's 800sqm solar roof will shade athletes while generating 25% of the Team Processing Centre's electricity.  The shading structure will produce 110kWc. * Floating solar farm on the River Seine The Seine gets a mobile solar farm generating enough clean power for 94 apartments in the nearby Olympic Village! It will be able to produce 78kWc of electricity using its 400m² of photovoltaic surface area.  * EV charging stations 800 charging stations from Izivia (EDF) to power official delegations across 3 sites, reducing the Games' carbon footprint.
