Empowering Women in Science and Energy: Celebrating Their Impact on International Day Women are still underrepresented in science and energy, with less than 30% of researchers globally being women. This gap is a loss not only for women but also for science and innovation, as diverse perspectives bring more creative solutions. The energy sector benefits greatly from women's involvement. For example: * Dr. Rose Mutiso from Kenya works on energy solutions in developing countries. * Dr. Andrianah Mbandi in Africa focuses on sustainable food systems and climate change. * Ainura Sagyn from Kyrgyzstan developed a waste management app. Gabriela Isac in Moldova drives environmental impact through tree planting. * Ania Sauku from Albania advocates for gender equality and climate action. * Pakizat Sailaubekova from Kazakhstan focuses on eco-friendly living. These examples highlight the role women play in energy innovation. In leadership and research, women are also making strides: * Lynn Good, CEO of Duke Energy, is leading the company towards ambitious carbon reduction goals. * Maria Zuber, a Geophysicist at MIT, works on renewable energy solutions. Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall enhances the resilience of energy infrastructure. * Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson contributes significantly to telecommunications and energy. These women exemplify the potential in diversifying leadership in science and energy.
