'Edison started out as a venture fund, but now “we have 10 funds and are in the #growthequity space. The companies we invest in have already found product-market fit, and we figure out how we can throw fuel on the fire from a go-to-market perspective to help them really scale up.”' Check out the full article 👇 #propelify #Nashvillegrowthequity #njgrowthequity #njtechweekly

Rogue Wave Ventures is the exclusive venture arm of Orb Capital. Our fund uniquely blends direct investment with strategic capital raising, offering companies not just financial backing but a gateway to a wider network of investors, amplifying growth opportunities while mitigating risks. We choose to invest exclusively in projects where we are brought in to raise capital. Our approach is sector-agnostic, however lean toward larger projects, think £2m to 100m+ in funds raised. (Normally Series A and Beyond) Our prime focus is all things Energy (Old and New), Infra, Transition, Storage, Capture, Logistics, Manufacturing, and Industrials (across all verticles) and our secondary focus is Technology. Think performance-related Ai, ML Sports-tech, and hardware. We chose these categories purely because this is where our network has naturally built up over the years. We have quick and direct access to the right people in the right places. We are always open to reviewing new projects.

Insight Partners nears $10B in commitments for 13th fund amid major portfolio exits #Insight Partners is reportedly on the cusp of securing over $10 billion in capital commitments for its 13th fund, according to a recent report by the Financial Times. This significant fundraising effort coincides with notable activity within its investment portfolio. In the past week, two of Insight's portfolio companies have been acquired: Recorded Future, a threat intelligence company co-founded by Christopher Ahlberg, was sold to Mastercard for $2.65 billion. Insight Partners had wholly owned Recorded Future since acquiring it in 2019 for $780 million. And Own Company, a startup specializing in tools for backing up data in cloud-based applications, was acquired by Salesforce for $1.9 billion, roughly half of its $3.5 billion valuation assigned by investors in 2021. Founded in 1995 by Jeff Horing and Jerry Murdock, Insight Partners is headquartered in New York City. The firm continues to invest in high-growth technology and software companies, with its current portfolio including the buzzy cybersecurity outfit Wiz. While the new fund may ultimately close with approximately $12 billion—less than the $20 billion raised for its 12th fund in 2022—it reflects the evolving dynamics of the venture capital landscape. 🌟 Reflecting on an incredible journey at VC Lab! 🌟 For the past two months, I have had the opportunity to be in the third cohort of Venture Institute, an exceptional program offered by VC Lab. With only one week left, I feel compelled to share my experience and the impact this program has had on me. Venture Institute is a competitive training program designed for aspiring venture capitalists and has provided me with invaluable insights into venture capital that would otherwise have been hard to reach. Each week, through demanding assignments, we delved into topics such as venture structures, fund economics, limited partners, venture deals, venture operations, and venture accounting. We explored intricate concepts like the Power Law, return waterfalls, fund modeling, Limited Partner agreements, Cap Tables, sourcing, venture firm entities, developing our venture style and what not! The program also encouraged us to explore our local ecosystems, allowing us to gain a comprehensive understanding and practical understanding of how venture capital affects our surroundings! Beyond the rigorous training, one of the most rewarding aspects of the program has been the connections we made. I've had the pleasure of meeting and learning from incredible individuals from around the globe, from those just starting their careers to industry leaders, all united by a shared goal: to master the game of venture capital. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the VC Lab team, including Adeo Ressi, Myrto Lalacos, and Emily Adams, among others. Your efforts in organising webinars, designing tasks, and fostering a supportive community have made this journey unforgettable. I would also like to thank all the guest lecturers, including Mike S., Genevieve LeMarchal, Taylor Davidson, Brian Bell, Marko Hara, Neal Strickberger, Hans Kim and Rob Del Prete. As industry experts, your insights were truly eye-opening and provided a realistic perspective on how a venture capital fund actually works. To anyone looking to break into the venture capital, I highly recommend considering the Venture Institute. VC lab offers two additional programs, one for emerging fund managers and the other for LPs. A week ago, we published our annual Fundraising Report, reflecting on the 181 (yes, one hundred and eighty one!) venture capital deals that the Mishcon de Reya LLP team advised on last year. The big one for me was of course Wayve's $1bn Series C, one of the largest VC raises ever in the UK, but of equal significance are all the pre-seed and seed rounds which helped to get the next generation of sector-defining technology companies started on their journeys. There really are very few firms who can credibly say that they are amongst the most active advisors on VC deals in Europe, lead on the most significant transactions in the market, and give as much love and attention to the clients who are raising their very first round as they do the ones who will make headlines in TechCrunch and Sifted. It's our superpower - and we've got the data to back it up. You can read more here: https://lnkd.in/eVCZe5Yi
