Please give your attention to Ari Heistein’s vital insights on an issue affecting all of you as taxpayers who fund #humanitarian operations; and particularly affecting those concerned with the effectiveness and long-term sustainability of aid delivery.
So you're a humanitarian aid worker in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen. What happens if you don't agree with how the regime is diverting assistance? Ari Heistein explains further: https://lnkd.in/gfq29_n6
I spoke with CNN on the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza earlier today. Words cannot capture what people are enduring--particularly in the north.
Mercy Corps provided our assessment--along with seven other NGOs that have been working to either provide aid or monitor the humanitarian situation--on the conditions for Israel to improve the provision of humanitarian assistance laid out in an October 13 letter from Secretaries Blinken and Austin. These conditions have not only largely not been met, but have actually deteriorated since the letter was sent.
The result--if dramatic changes are not made--will be loss of life due to famine conditions that are now present across Gaza and pervasive in particularly in the north. These deaths--affecting children in the greatest numbers-- will occur despite clear warnings and evidence provided by humanitarian actors desperate to assist civilians.
The US has made it clear it no longer trusts Israel’s actions in Gaza. The only way to get humanitarian aid in is with an immediate ceasefire, writes Associate Fellow Nomi Bar-Yaacov for The Independent.

Why did Israel kill the 7 humanitarian aid workers from World Central Kitchen? Well, now aid ships are turning back from Gaza to Cyprus with around 240 tons of undelivered aid.
🛑 So What- Endless Conferences and Ceasefire Talks.
🛑 Blinken: The Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing Is Continuing.
🛑 Biden: What Else Can Be Done? What Do You Think?
Of course these Conferences have impacts what regards public awareness however we don’t see active actions to stop the slaughter, killing and suffering. The whole Palestinian population in the ‘OPT’ is facing collective punishment and total annihilation. Endless Conferences and Ceasefire talks in the political theatres are failing to end the genocide in Gaza and the violence in the West Bank.
According to many political commentators the gap between the involved parties, what concerns ceasefire negotiations to end the war and halt the starvation and famine, on both sides remains to be huge.
Hamas’s position would only accept a permanent ceasefire deal and asked international guarantee for this. On the other hand the increased weight of hardline extremists in Natanyahu’s government is calling for continuation of the war using their mandate and leverage on Netanyahu.
The US has said it is “evaluating” Hamas’ formal response to its Gaza ceasefire proposal, as the secretary of state, Antony Blinken (https://lnkd.in/d6K8Te8T), attempts to channel global support for a UN security council resolution backing the proposal into pressure on the Palestinian militant group and Israel. Hamas has repeatedly asked for
Late on Tuesday, a Hamas a “complete stop” to the war and permanent ceasefire, withdrawal, reconstruction and [prisoner] exchange”.
These endless conferences and associated ceasefire rhetorics will not change the situation in Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territories ‘OPT’. The genocide, starvation and famine in Gaza and the endless crimes in the rest of the ‘OPT’ will continue. The Israeli military is failing on multiple grounds yet it continues to receive hundreds of millions of dollars in aid from Western countries. The Western nations must re-exam their support for the Israeli army (https://lnkd.in/dNjqVeKe).

Stop the Genocide!
From Gaza to Sudan to Haiti to Ukraine, humanitarian workers face more lethal risks, operational challenges, and access constraints than ever before. According to the UN, 2023 was the deadliest year on record for humanitarian workers with 280 aid workers killed last year alone. 2024 is on track to be even worse.
We are seeing a blatant disregard for 75 years of International Humanitarian Law that is eroding the foundation of our collective humanity.
Today, on #WorldHumanitarianDay, we mourn and honor the brave individuals who continue their life-saving work in perilous conditions and make the ultimate sacrifice, and we demand action to protect aid workers, civilians, and civilian infrastructure under assault. It’s time for those in power to end impunity and #ActForHumanity.
Today is World Humanitarian Day and this year it is particularly somber. Last year was the deadliest year on record for humanitarians – over 280 killed – and 2024 is on track to be even worse as aid workers from Gaza to Sudan to Haiti to Ukraine face more lethal risks, operational challenges, and access constraints than ever before. We’re seeing a blatant disregard for 75 years of International Humanitarian Law that is eroding the foundation of our collective humanity.
We’ve all witnessed the systematic blocking of aid and attacks on civilian infrastructure including healthcare centers, aid convoys, ambulances, schools, and shelters. The world has reached a perilous tipping point where the safe delivery of humanitarian aid is no longer guaranteed and civilians most in need are the ones who suffer. It’s time for those in power to end impunity and act for humanity. #WHD#ActforHumanity

Wisma Putra says Malaysia welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and underlines this positive development as a crucial first step towards de-escalating tensions and restoring peace and stability in the Middle East.
An immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza also needs to be put in place with unimpeded access to humanitarian aid restored quickly. Only when an independent, free and sovereign Palestine exists, can there be real peace in the Middle East.
Simple Reminder that unrwa.org/ has been bringing humanitarian aid to Palestine since 1949.
Defunding UNRWA to appease the Genocidal occupation was a massive mistake.
Why does a small settler colony get to boss all the governments of the world?
Look at the UN voting record for humanitarian aid. Repeatedly, the Nations of our entire planet work together to offer aid packages to Palestine and to sanction Genocide. UK, US, and Israel consistently vote against humanitarian measures. Sometimes France, Sometimes Australia.
Sometimes France upholds Human Rights.
The targeted drone strikes killing the 7 humanitarian volunteers of World Central Kitchen WCK was intentionally done to prevent humanitarian aid to surviving Palestinians facing present starvation. These are war crimes.
World Central Kitchen stepped up to end the Hunger, while our world governments defunded UNRWA. World Central Kitchen stepped in to bring aid to ease the forced starvation of Palestinian children, and their workers were chased by drones until all 7 were dead.
World Central Kitchen is the same that brought food to Washington DC to the furloughed government workers during government shut-downs.
This is continued Genocide.
This morning the EU humanitarian aid office in Mali presented its strategic plan for 2025 to over 40 humanitarian NGOs and UN agencies working in the country.
Mali continues to see an increase in events with serious humanitarian consequences. Displacement due to increased conflict, natural disaster, food security and malnutrition are of big concern. Without peace and stability the government will not (yet) commit sufficient budget to public services and development actors are increasingly withdrawing, making complementaritity difficult.
Meanwhile the partners continue to give important aid and hope to people in hard-to-reach areas. Field staff having to manoeuvre in a high-risk environment. Our partners are key to the proper, efficient, adequate and humane delivery of aid in accordance with the humanitarian principles.
