In the last 5 years, the past 3 NBA teams that won a championship were homegrown. Let us explain.. Someone is considered to be homegrown when they’ve spent a significant amount of time in one area. Ex: Growing up in Denver for the majority of your life or playing for one single NBA team. You’ll see a clear trend when you look at the past three NBA champions: developing and nurturing your talent is the key to winning. While cities like Denver continue to grow and invite external talent to do business here, it’s also common for NBA teams to sign players from other teams. We at Ednium are making the case that reinvesting into homegrown talent is the way cities need to move forward. The Celtics, Nuggets, and Warriors get it. Now the question is, how do we continue to recognize and incentivize cities to develop and nurture their own talent? #EdniumAlumni #EducationLeadership #HomegrownTalent #HomegrownAwards

'Running Towards Adversity' This season my club, Ipswich Town FC celebrated a triumphant promotion to the Premier League! 🚀 At the beginning of the season, the odds were stacked against us. Critics doubted, and many expected us to fall short of promotion. Yet, here we are, in the Premier League. Our manager's recent words resonated deeply with me: "We ran towards adversity." This powerful statement is not just a reflection of our team's journey on the pitch but a philosophy that mirrors my professional ethos and at DDRE Global we live by this quote i feel. In our careers, as in football, the path to success is often paved with challenges. At DDRE Global, we embrace these challenges. Where others might choose to follow the crowd or opt for the easier path, we choose to be different. We are committed to pushing the barriers of success, creativity, and collaborative approaches. Running towards adversity isn't just a strategy; it's a mindset. And it's this mindset that sets leaders apart and crafts success stories out of improbable scenarios. Let’s carry this spirit forward—whether on the field or in our careers! #Leadership #Adversity #Success #IpswichTownFC #DDREGlobal #Promotion #PremierLeague #Teamwork #Innovation

The importance of recruitment, it isn't just about filling roles, it's about recognising potential and nurturing talent. Take, for instance, Jack Ginnivan, Massimo D'Ambrosio, and Mabior Chol, who recently joined the Hawks. Each of these players were struggling to get a game at their previous clubs. However, Hawthorn saw their potential and took a chance. Ginnivan went from playing only 7 games last season to playing 18 this season. He is currently ranking among the top small forwards in the AFL for goals and pressure acts. D'Ambrosio, who managed just 5 games last year, has played 15 this season and is now one of the highest-rated wingmen in the league. Chol, limited to 4 games last season, now has 16 games under his belt and has tripled his goal tally, ranking in the top 10 for contested marks. By trusting their system and processes, Hawthorn has created an environment where these players can thrive. This story shows the importance of looking beyond immediate performance, tenure and background. When you believe in your recruitment strategy and invest in the growth of your talent, great things can happen. Let's learn from Hawthorn's approach... and clear all September plans while we are at it #Recruitment #Trifecta

I apologize for the long post, but I felt this was worth sharing with my LI community As the World Series approaches, I’m reminded of how sports can transcend beyond the field and impact communities in powerful ways. Fernando Valenzuela, to many, is more than just a Dodger. He’s a symbol of representation, resilience, and healing for the Latino community. In the 1980s, at a time of tension between the Latino community and the Los Angeles Dodgers, Valenzuela was signed. For the first time, many of us saw someone who looked like us playing at the highest level. I remember my parents talking about baseball around the kitchen table, something that had never happened before. It wasn’t just about the game—it was about seeing someone from our community on that stage, representing us. The relationship between the Latino community and the Dodgers has deep roots, with a history that includes the building of Dodger Stadium in Chavez Ravine, a painful chapter for many. But with Valenzuela, the connection began to heal, and Dodger pride grew stronger in our community. When you hear an Angeleno speak passionately about being a Dodger fan, it’s not just about the team—it’s about history, pride, and representation. This brings me to why diversity and representation matter so much, especially in the workplace. At Harbor Freight Tools we are committed to building a championship team, one that reflects the strength and diversity of our communities. I am passionate about working here because I see that there is space for someone like me—a proud Latina—to contribute, grow, and help build something meaningful. Representation isn’t just about checking a box; it’s about showing others what’s possible and making space for every voice to be heard. Rest in peace - Fernando El Torro Valenzuela 💙 #diversity #representationmatters #championshipteam #worldseries #GoDodgers

Would Sports Be Interesting Had It Stayed All White? If major league sports stayed all white, how interesting would that be? What legendary roster of G.O.A.T.’s would we have missed? What new styles of play that elevated the game’s competitiveness would we have never seen? I contemplated many Greatest Of All Time players. Baseball: Jackie Robinson. Big Papi. Mariano Riviera. Football: Jerry Rice. Patrick Mahomes. Lawrence Taylor. Basketball: Michael Jordan. Magic Johnson. Kobe Bryant. What really clinched my fascination, however, was wondering when did it happen? When did we take multi-racial teams for granted? When did we cross the rubicon when multi-racial teams were just so everyday? Oh yeah, it’s just the way it is. Can you point to the specific day or year? When it comes to diverse corporate leadership, white male leaders make up the majority of roles at 75-80%. What would it take to cross the rubicon so that one day we can say, “diverse leadership, oh yeah, it’s just the way it is.” Until we cross that rubicon, how many GOAT’s are overlooked right now? How much profitability is diluted right now? How many diverse markets are underserved right now? How are shareholders being under served right now? 🤷♀️ #maleallies #menasallies #seniorleadership #diversity #dei #leadership #diverseleadership #diverseteams

Love or hate Boston sports - the Celtics had quite a run and got that long-waited title last night. My favorite part? It was a clear demonstration of how to build a champion team. The MVP wasn't just math - the MVP was a team strategy. 1. Recruit for a collection of skills - not a “rockstar” or MVP. Look holistically at your team - so you get the diversity of talent that can work as a cohesive whole, bringing different strengths to bear and compensating for areas of weakness. 2. Work hard to retain people and grow their skills - as a team. Don’t stay stagnant - your team needs stretch opportunities as a collective and as individual players. Keep them moving. 3. Trust the skills and data - over personalities and headlines. Flashy players are fun to watch on Instagram but numbers don’t lie. Teams beat the individual. https://lnkd.in/gY694pkM

🏀 End of an Era & Embracing Change 💼 It was the final time Steph Curry and Klay Thompson splashed together. Basketball brothers no more, with Thompson leaving a partnership that produced four championships with the Warriors. He’s now in Dallas, joining the Mavericks, escaping a recent Warriors past that frustrated him. It's hard when someone leaves the team. Life is all about change, especially in the workplace. Having a best work friend (BWF) boosts job satisfaction and productivity, but it’s inevitable one will leave. This departure impacts both emotionally and professionally. Adjusting means navigating emotions and adapting to new dynamics, turning this change into an opportunity for growth. As they move on, consider what this means for everyone’s growth. #DubNation #Warriors #Mavericks #NBA #StephCurry #KlayThompson #WorkplaceChange #TeamDynamics #CareerGrowth

The business of sports is like any business—success hinges on your ability to make accurate judgments of people. That goes for owners, execs, coaches, agents, players, and even referees. No one understands this better than Adam Silver, Commissioner of the National Basketball Association (NBA). In so many ways, Adam’s leadership at the league has been marked by extraordinary judgment. I am honored to have seen this up close. That’s why his support of Good Judgment is so meaningful to me. I wrote #GoodJudgment to help you make high-stakes decisions about whom to hire, fire, promote, partner with, befriend, date, marry, and more.
