Earlier in my career, I chose to be paid 40% less, and I don't regret it. Here is the story. ⬇️ At the beginning of my career, I had the choice to join prestigious consulting companies in Paris, with a very good salary. 💰 But there was something that I didn't feel right about. I would join enormous transformation projects where I would be a tiny actor with a lot of pressure and workload. I could feel the stress on the faces of my potential managers. 😵💫 And a little by chance, I met people from the Decathlon sporting goods company. They were very relaxed, wearing casual sportswear after their daily sport session at lunch. My intuition told me to join them because I felt that it was the best thing for me, even if they paid me 40% less. ⚡️ It was a bit hard for my ego at first, but I can tell you that I don't regret my choice. Why? Because I was already in a field that I was passionate about, sport, with a mission that I found exciting, to make sport more accessible to as many people as possible. 🚀 My managers were wise and positive and gave me a lot of responsibility and autonomy very quickly. Thanks to Fabien Lebas & Robin ALLOUI They gave me a huge project to automate the supply chain of thousands of stores. And they gave me complete autonomy, while I was only 24 years old. 👶 I had the opportunity to explore forecasting models with MIT for more than two years. And thanks to this first project, I was able to travel the world, meet passionate people, develop my skills quickly, gain confidence, strengthen my expertise. 💪🏻 I could finally progress much faster, catch up, and even exceed my delay on my school colleagues' salary. And above all, I gain the freedom to do the jobs that I really wanted while having fun and being able to live in 5 different countries over the last 10 years.😎 The Compound effect of a right decision pay on the long term. It all started with a single decision at the beginning, which was not to follow the best-paid jobs that can be motivated by your school or your entourage. Follow what you are passionate about, and trust your intuition. 🙏 Edouard PS: I am going to share more examples to help you to boost your career while having fun. 7moI had a similar experience about 10 years ago where I wasn't going anywhere and I couldn't find my place in the jobs that were offered to me at a decent pay. Then I found a job as raw material coordinator for Trimet France for less than I would have been paid elsewhere but the project and the people was something else. And I had a good 5 years run over there and a really good experience at that, without it I wouldn't be there today 👍
