One Overlooked Step to Becoming a Great Manager. Excelling at managing a team effectively can seem overwhelming, but the truth is that some of the best tools for success are already within you! Self-discovery is the foundation for becoming more impactful. It's about understanding your strengths (think of being a natural motivator or strategic mastermind) and weaknesses (maybe micromanaging or struggling with public speaking). But it doesn't stop there. Research by Zenger Folkman (Do Great Leaders Really Need Self-Awareness?) shows that self-aware leaders are rated 79% more effective by their teams. That's a massive difference! Why? Because self-aware leaders can leverage their strengths for maximum impact and actively work on their weaknesses. They can tailor their communication styles, delegate effectively, and create a more positive work environment for everyone. So, which practical steps you can take to improve yourself? 1. Embrace Self-Discovery: Don't just skim the surface! Personality assessments like DISC and MBTI can provide valuable insights, but they're just the beginning. Reflect on real-life situations where your strengths shone through, and identify areas where you could have done better. 2. Seek Feedback: Don't be afraid of 360 feedback. Gather anonymous feedback from colleagues, superiors, and direct reports. This can reveal blind spots and areas for improvement you might not have noticed on your own. 3. (CRITICAL) Commit to Growth: Self-discovery is just the first step. The real magic happens when you commit to working on leveraging your strengths and working on your weaknesses. Take a course, hire a coach, or find a mentor – invest in your growth as a leader! Ready to embark on your leadership self-discovery journey? Let me know in the comments below! Years ago, I witnessed a transformation that redefined my understanding of success. A struggling team, despite having top talent, couldn't deliver results. The missing link? Effective leadership. We introduced executive coaching for the team leader. Here's what happened next: SelfDiscovery → The leader learned about their strengths and weaknesses. ↳ This awareness was the first step towards effective leadership. Improved Communication → The leader started listening more. ↳ This change created an open and trusting environment. Conflict Management → With new skills, the leader could mediate disputes. ↳ The team began working together harmoniously. Clear Vision → The leader’s vision became more aligned with the team’s goals. ↳ Everyone worked with a shared purpose. Increased Motivation → Understanding what drives each team member. ↳ The leader could motivate them better. Accountability → The leader held themselves and the team accountable. ↳ This accountability boosted productivity. Flexibility → The leader became more adaptable to change. ↳ The team thrived in a dynamic business environment. Within months, the team that was once floundering started to excel. Their success wasn't just in numbers. It was in their newfound confidence, collaboration, and cohesion. The transformation was clear. This experience taught me an invaluable lesson: Leaders aren't born. They are made through continuous learning and selfimprovement. Executive coaching is that catalyst for change. If you’ve seen the power of coaching, share your story. Let's inspire others to invest in their growth. #leadership #team #development #success

I started a strategic coaching process with a manager, and it was quite interesting to see how his immediate reaction was to avoid recognizing himself as a #leader: ❗️If others recognize me, that’s fine, but doing it myself seems arrogant. ❗️I am not someone who always seeks to stand out. ❗️I will never seek to prioritize my own interests, etc., etc. Everything revolved around a somewhat negative connotation > 😬 how far he was from the true concept of what being a leader really means. Throughout my professional experience, I have identified two key words that embody the true concept of leadership: IMMERSE and EMERGE. ⚠️ They might seem contradictory, but they are not. Let me explain how they complement each other: Some people feel a certain degree of apprehension about acknowledging their role as a leader because, in some way, it makes them feel distanced from their teams: “me here, you there.” This is where the concept of emerging is wrongly associated, with the leader seen as someone who seeks to stand out above others: ❌ Not at all ❌ When talking about effective #leadership, the starting point is immersing oneself in the team — diving into the work dynamics and understanding individual and collective #strengths — to guide, support, and boost each member’s growth. By immersing oneself, not only does one connect with people, but #strategies are also created to bring out the best in them. When a leader immerses with the purpose of understanding and empowering, what emerges is not their own image but collective success. It is a process that optimizes resources, promotes autonomy, and, most importantly, achieves objectives collaboratively. ✨In other words, a true leader who immerses makes the team emerge. This is the part of my job I love most: helping leaders grow by diving wholeheartedly into their teams and empowering them to emerge and shine sustainably over time. So tell me, what key words best capture your leadership style? Adriana Romero Promoting Healthy Productivity

5 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 Coaching is no longer optional for leaders—𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒍. If you want to build a high-performing team, here are five must-have coaching skills that will elevate your leadership game and empower your team: 1️⃣ 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Practice reflective listening by summarizing what your team member said before responding. It shows you’re engaged and ensures clarity. 2️⃣ 𝐀𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Swap “why” questions (which can feel accusatory) with “what” or “how” questions. For example, instead of “𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯?” try “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘪𝘵?” 3️⃣ 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤: Use the SBI model (Situation-Behavior-Impact). Focus on specific behaviors and the impact they have, leaving no room for misinterpretation. 4️⃣ 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭: Keep your word. If you promise feedback or follow-up, deliver on time. Trust is built (or broken) in the little things. 5️⃣ 𝐄𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: When setting goals, ask, “What steps will you take to make this happen?” It creates ownership and a clear action plan. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫: Great leaders don’t just manage—they coach. 𝑾𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒐𝒄𝒖𝒔 𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌? 📩 If you're ready to bring coaching into your leadership, let’s connect. I'm a leadership coach. What does that mean, you ask? ➡️ I teach, train, show, mentor, guide, and counsel people in management and leadership positions to be more effective. How? 1️⃣ First, I show my clients how they get results, their 'operating system,' that is uniquely theirs. I use The Leadership Circle assessment for this. This is incredibly illuminating and empowering. There are so many ways to leverage your strongest strengths, without anything else needing to change, and get results right away. 👀 This rapidly enhances self-awareness (like "OH that's SO ME!" type exclamations) and fast-tracks intimacy with me and my client. 2️⃣ Then, we address how they're inadvertently holding themselves back (in 'TLC speak' it's looking at their Reactive Tendencies). 3️⃣ I introduce new tactical ways to be more effective -- with other people, with task accomplishment, increasing their courage to speak up, building strategic thinking and decisiveness...and so much more. 4️⃣ They put these new skills into practice and return with feedback. Then we integrate even more lessons, building upon past wins. ⚡ Confidence and momentum build. ⚡ 💥 Over time, we encounter obstacles: conflict (with a coworker or boss), a frustrating circumstance (being rejected, passed-over, thwarted, criticized), a situational shift that causes disruption (reorg, new boss, too much work)... ALL THE JOB THINGS. I am their resource throughout: I offer guidance from my 35 years in leadership, hiring, training, and coaching others to be effective leaders. I offer actions to take, solid counsel, my insight and intuition, and sometimes my loving big-sister-style kick-in-the-pants...😝 📈 And they get RESULTS. Things like: A better relationship with their boss and team. A better job. Maybe a promotion. A raise. Less stress. More confidence. More fulfillment. This is what 'Leadership Coaching' with me is like. 🙌🏽 My coaching packages start at $3k. DM me to uplevel your leadership skills. #leadershipcoaching #coach #leadershipcoach #executivepresence #leadershiptraining #managementtraining #stopplayingsmall #impostorsyndrome #smarternotharder #leadership #stressmanagement #managingup

If you are a leader, manager, or supervisor, and you feel disappointed in a person or team's performance, belittling and browbeating simply will NOT work to increase long-term performance. You may get short-term improvement, but you will not get sustainable change. In fact, you'll have the opposite impact. You'll undermine trust and kill motivation, potentially driving away your very best assets. If this is you, try this approach. Think about what you want to say (you're never prepared, you look weak and shaky, you aren't demonstrating leadership, etc.), then take a moment in private and think about what you DO want and then define exactly what that means. For example, "you're never prepared" turns into "I want you to walk into meetings prepared, dressed professionally, having read materials ahead of time, being ready to present material as the subject matter expert in the room, answering questions based on your knowledge and experience, etc." Set clear expectations by defining exactly what you DO want. Let your people know what it would look like, sound like, and/or feel like if they met your expectations and performed well. After you set expectations, ask them what they need to meet them and to perform at their best. Then support them. Offer them what they need, and show up for them every day. Give feedback. Acknowledge success, progress, and even failures. If they fail, ask them what they learned and what they would do differently next time. We all feel frustration, and that's okay. What's not going to help you is taking that frustration out on your people. Find an objective partner in a leadership coach where you can safely vent your feelings then work to manage them and turn them into effective action. Working with a leadership coach can help and support you to be a better leader to your people, managing yourself better, clearly articulating your expectations, giving better feedback, and building long-term, sustainable improvement. #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipcoaching #coachingleaders #coachingskills #coaching #leadershipandrisk

🚀 Want to Be a Recruitment Leader People Are Excited to Follow? 🚀 We’ve all seen it: leaders who don’t motivate or inspire the excitement or commitment of their teams. Here are a few reasons why that might happen: ❌ Lack of Vision: Without a clear and inspiring vision, people struggle to stay motivated. ❌ Inconsistency: Trust erodes when leaders don’t follow through on their words. ❌ Micromanagement: Teams need room to grow, not a leader breathing down their necks. ❌ Poor Communication: Misunderstandings and confusion lead to disengagement. ❌ Lack of Empathy: People want leaders who see them, hear them, and value them. So, what does it take for people to be excited to follow a leader? ✨ Authenticity: Being genuine and transparent in your actions and decisions. ✨ Empowerment: Trusting your team to deliver and giving them the tools they need to succeed. ✨ Vision & Inspiration: Painting a compelling picture of the future and getting people excited to be part of the journey. ✨ Empathy: Showing you care about your team members as people, not just as employees. ✨ Consistency: Leading with integrity and staying true to your word. 💡 If stepping into this kind of leadership feels challenging, you're not alone! If you’re a manager scared of failing and letting people down... You're not alone. Over 75% of people experience imposter thinking and it can get stronger when you step into people management. Here’s 3 mindset shifts that will help you shift that thinking 👇🏻 1️⃣ “It’s not my job to know everything - it’s my job to help my team use their strengths” Being a manager doesn’t mean you have to be the expert. Focus on how you can leverage your teams strengths so they can take the lead. 2️⃣ “I’m here to help my team grow, not do everything for them” Encourage your team to experiment and fail. People grow when they are allowed to try new things without fear of judgement. 3️⃣ “I’m here to coach, not fix everything. Focus on coaching, not solving. Rather than coming up with all of the solutions, ask the right questions, and let them find their own answers. Your team doesn’t need you to be perfect, the expert, or the fixer. Your team need you to create a space where they can use their strengths and expertise to do great work. When you let go of needing to be the ‘perfect leader,’ you’ll actually start creating a high performing team - and quieten the imposter thinking spiralling in your brain! As a Leadership Coach, I've seen firsthand how crucial it is for leaders to provide a clear conceptual framework for their team members to make informed decisions. Let me share a short story about one particular experience I had: I worked with a talented leader under immense pressure to excel and elevate their team's performance. However, despite his dedication, he found himself stuck. Through our sessions, we discovered two significant obstacles. 🚫First, we identified internal limiting beliefs and barriers holding him back. We addressed these personal challenges to unlock his full potential. 🚫Second, perhaps more critically, we noticed that his Boss was sending mixed messages. His Boss frequently used the word "empower" to encourage him to take charge. But, on the other hand, his Boss's actions demonstrated micromanagement and lack of trust, undermining the empowerment message. This inconsistency created confusion and frustration for my client.😕 So, what do we do in such situations? ☑️The answer is to educate and support leaders in being aware of their behaviors and the messages they send. ☑️It's about supporting them through processes that help awaken their self-awareness and align their actions with their words. We worked on building my client's self-awareness and self-confidence through dedicated coaching. ☑️We also addressed the importance of his clear, consistent communication with his team, which positively impacted their performance. ☑️Finally, and very importantly, my client successfully influenced upward, guiding his manager to adopt a more consistent approach. Thus, my client finally felt empowered and accountable for his decisions and results. This experience reaffirmed my belief that leadership isn't just about giving directions; it's about fostering an atmosphere where team members feel genuinely empowered to make decisions. This is just one example of why I enjoy 😍my work: I help leaders awaken their awareness and align their actions with their words so they can create environments where they thrive.🔝👍🏽 #leadership #empowerment #authenticity #leadershipdevelopment #coaching #teamengagement #personalgrowth

What does it mean to "Lead From the Inside Out?" Mastering the "hard" skills like strategic planning and financial management is crucial for any leader. But what truly sets exceptional leaders apart is their ability to harness "soft" skills such as self-awareness, authenticity, and a strong sense of personal values. These are the skills that require leaders to look inward—to reflect on how their beliefs, emotions, and principles shape their actions and decisions. While most leaders are trained extensively in hard skills, soft skills are often assumed to be innate or left to chance. However, for many, developing these skills feels more elusive and challenging. The good news? Soft skills can be learned and honed, just like any technical ability. This is where great coaching comes in. A skilled coach can help you uncover what matters most to you as a leader and identify any roadblocks preventing you from stepping into your full leadership potential. A great starting point is to clarify your core values. Ask yourself: "What's truly important to me as a leader?" and "Who do I want to be?" Then, take it a step further—discover what values resonate with your organization and your team. Create a Venn diagram to visualize the overlap between your values and theirs, and use that insight to guide your leadership approach. At the end of the day, people won’t necessarily remember your ability to crunch numbers or analyze data, but they will remember if you were genuine and could be trusted. Leading from the inside out reminds us that self-awareness, authenticity, and values are essential for inspiring a purpose-driven team to success. #LeadFromWithin, #AuthenticLeadership, #ValuesDrivenLeadership, #PurposefulLeadership, #SelfAwareLeadership, #LeadershipDevelopment, #LeadWithPurpose
