During my time at the Polymer Technology Lab at the University of Borås, I conducted gel content analysis to assess the degree of crosslinking in a novel type of PEX pipe produced via photo-initiated crosslinking (PEX-e). This work aimed to determine how the crosslinking degree is affected over long-term aging. The experiments were carried out using solvent extraction, following the ISO 10147:2012 standard. The results will soon be presented in coming publications. #PEX

The first academic publication jointly from SENFI UK and Oxford Chemistry is out now in #OpenAccess Industrial Chemistry & Materials published by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Many thanks to my co-workers Alexander Evans, Zoe Turner, Jirut Wattoom and Dermot O'Hare. https://lnkd.in/eexVrQ32 This #HOTPaper highlights advancements in enhancing the processability of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, expanding the possible applications of this exceptionally high-performance recyclable material. Along the way we explore methodologies for further tuning the polymers produced by our PHENI* catalyst technology, opening the door to much more exciting possibilities in the future. This work was part funded through the EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account, and showcases the key role of SENFI UK as a bridge between academia and industry. Public-private research partnerships of this type are crucial to unlocking the potential of capital-intensive #CleanTech innovations such as sustainable polymers.
