I am thrilled to announce that the research we have been developing, with the valuable contribution and guidance of my supervisor and mentors during my internship, has been selected for presentation at the #BauSIM2024 conference in #Vienna in the upcoming #September! I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the unit of energy-efficient buildings of the University of Innsbruck for their warm welcome, their unconditional support, and for considering me a member of their valuable team. From day one, they embraced me as one of their own, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with such remarkable and inspiring people. This experience has not only deepened my understanding of air source heat pumps but has also shown me the power of teamwork in driving innovative research. I am truly fortunate to have been a part of such a supportive and dynamic environment. Their inspiration and wealth of knowledge were instrumental in shaping the early stages of my career, even at the undergraduate level. I am excited about the opportunity to present our work at BauSIM2024 and look forward to what the future holds. Research Title: Performance Evaluation of Decentralized Split Unit Air-to-Air Heat Pumps Abstract: A holistic evaluation is performed to investigate the energy performance of air-to-air split units (also called air-conditioning units), including laboratory measurements and steady-state simulations of the refrigerant cycle. Several aspects are considered, such as indoor fan speed, varying compressor frequency, defrost, and “on/off” cycles. The laboratory measurements include steady-state test points as well as dynamic operation. The measured Coefficient of Performance (COP) varies from 1.8 to 4.9, and the maximum measured heating capacity was 2.5 kW, close to the nominal value of 2.7 kW. The measured reduction due to the defrost cycle was up to 14% in the heating capacity and 16% in the COP. It was also found that the indoor air flows were on average 40% less than the ones listed in the datasheet. #UniversityOfInnsbruck #EnergyEfficientBuildings #Research #BAUSIM2024 #AcademicJourney #Teamwork #Sustainability #Engineering

#MastersThesis #Internship Openings for internships and masters' thesis projects in the field of Materials Characterisation are emerging at partners of the NEXT Competence Centre. Examples include projects that will assess when to use lab techniques and when to use large scale infrastructures – and go on to devise research strategies. The types of characterisation techniques that students/interns will use include Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The industry sustainability challenges addressed include the durability of austenitic stainless steels in harsh, high temperature environments and the comparative performance of Hybrid 60 steel in the presence of hydrogen. Projects/internships will be carried out in collaboration between universities and companies e.g. between KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Outokumpu or Ovako Group. Project supervisors include Peter Hedström, Mohammad Hoseini-Athar and Tao Zhou (KTH Royal Institute of Technology) as well as Tania Loaiza Uribe (Ovako) and Prasath Babu Revathy Rajan (Outokumpu). For more information about three of the possible thesis/internship projects, and how to apply, can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dPvAp_7B Other opportunities for masters' thesis work and internships will arise at the 23 partners of the NEXT Competence Centre. 🎓✨ End of Research Engineering Internship - An Unforgettable Experience! ✨🎓 I am thrilled to share with you the conclusion of my 4th-year engineering school internship as a research engineer at Université Gustave Eiffel. These past 6 months in the Navier laboratory have been extremely enriching both technically and personally. 👨🔬 Ever since I was a child, I wanted to explore the world of research, which sparked my passion for science. The goal was to enhance the hygrothermal and mechanical performance of hemp wool insulators and better understand their overall behavior. At the Navier Laboratory, the focus is on studying the hygrothermal behavior of these materials, which is essential to demonstrate their effectiveness as insulators and humidity regulators. In this context, I conducted measurements of thermal conductivity, sorption capacity, water diffusion coefficient, and tensile and compressive strength, varying the porosity, fiber size, fiber orientation, and sample composition. The synthesis and analysis of the results allowed us to identify the most influential parameters in the formulation and determine the "best composition." My aim was also to better understand the structure of hemp wool and its role in the mechanical and hygrothermal properties of the material. 🌟 Beyond the technical aspect, this internship has been marked by exceptional encounters. The laboratory members created a stimulating and supportive work environment. Thanks to them, I was able to grow in a setting where mutual assistance, knowledge sharing, and a passion for research were the guiding principles. Strong bonds were formed, making this experience all the more memorable. ⚙ I am extremely happy to have discovered this field, and now I am ready to explore careers more directly related to industry, such as management or technical sales. I am eagerly preparing for my next internship from February to July 2025. 🙏 A big thank you to the Université de Technologie de Troyes and Philippe COUSSOT that made this internship possible and enriching. I look forward to applying everything I have learned and continuing my professional path with enthusiasm and determination! #ResearchEngineer #Internship #Hygrothermal #Materials #Research #Innovation #Team #Passion #NewChallenges

Reflecting on My Professional Journey: Innovation in Engineering, Ecology, and International Ambitions Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of gaining valuable experience through two dynamic and complementary internships that have sharpened my technical skills and broadened my perspective on engineering and research. 🪂 KNDS France – For six months, I worked in the demanding defense industry, where constant innovation is essential to enhance the performance of complex systems. My role focused on modeling the mechanical, vibrational, and wave behaviors of these systems to identify key parameters—such as stiffness, inertia, and damping—that influence their vibratory response. In this challenging environment, I learned to adapt quickly and solve intricate technical problems, deepening my expertise while contributing to the design of more precise and efficient equipment. This experience solidified my passion for applied research and technological innovation. 🐬 Archipelagos Institute of Marine Conservation, Greece – This internship offered a completely different perspective, immersing me in ecological research and marine bioacoustics. I developed an algorithm to detect Cuvier's beaked whale clicks, blending programming with scientific analysis. Beyond technical skills, this experience enhanced my ability to collaborate in a multicultural environment and significantly improved my English communication skills—an essential asset for my international career aspirations. 🔍 What’s Next? Building on these experiences, I am seeking a one-year (or longer) opportunity in Germany, in the field of robotics. My goal is to strengthen my expertise in applied research and technological development while further improving my language skills. In the long term, I aim to contribute to the development of robotic solutions, particularly for medical applications—a field that inspires me deeply. 👉 My resume is attached for your consideration. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you know of any opportunities that align with my profile. Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey, and here’s to new adventures ahead! 🚀 #Robotics #Innovation #Research #InternationalCareer #Engineering #Germany #VIE
