Diabetes awareness to improve diabetes management and well-being 💙 Today, November 14th, marks World Diabetes Day, and the entire month of November is dedicated to diabetes awareness. These are crucial times to emphasize the impact of diabetes and the importance of early detection and management. At Aidian, we are committed to enhancing diabetes management through our point-of-care testing (POCT) solutions. Point-of-care HbA1c testing improves diabetes management, patient’s commitment to treatment and patient satisfaction, leading to better glycaemic control and fewer comorbidities. Worldwide, 537 million adults were affected by diabetes in 2021. This number is expected to rise to 783 million by 2045. This increase can lead to higher rates of diabetes-related complications, greater strain on healthcare systems, and substantial economic burdens due to increased healthcare costs and loss of productivity. Let’s spread awareness and support those affected by diabetes. Together, we can make a difference! 💙 https://lnkd.in/gn2Vaa_N #Diabetes #HbA1c #QuikReadgo #Aidian #youraidindiagnostics #DiabetesAwereness #Healthcare #wellbeing #WorldDiabetesDay

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month, and today is World Diabetes Day! At Early Alert Canines (EAC), our mission is to train Medical Detection Dogs. We enhance the health, safety, and well-being of individuals with insulin-dependent diabetes through partnerships with certified diabetic alert dogs. Additionally, we advance public health by training and deploying dogs to detect other diseases. You might wonder why we specify insulin dependency rather than using the term diabetes. This is because there are significant distinctions between type 1 and type 2 diabetes, including their causes. The majority of our clients have type 1 diabetes, a condition caused by an autoimmune reaction, leading to the inability to produce insulin. Type 1 diabetes affects approximately 5-10% of people with diabetes and can be diagnosed at any age. Symptoms often develop rapidly, and individuals with type 1 diabetes must take insulin daily to survive. Currently, there is no known cure or preventive measure for type 1 diabetes. One of the serious side effects of insulin therapy is hypoglycemia, which can lead to severe complications, including coma and even death. While modern technology helps individuals monitor their blood sugar, there are times when such checks can be challenging. This is where Diabetic Alert Dogs provide critical support! EAC Louise, pictured here in the blue circle for diabetes awareness, will someday be trained to detect changes in blood glucose levels, giving her partner valuable time to take action and avoid dangerous outcomes. These dogs provide real, life-saving assistance to individuals managing shifts in their blood sugar levels. #DiabetesAwareness #WorldDiabetesDay #DiabeticAlertDogs #EarlyAlertCanines #NationalDiabetesAwarenessMonth

World Diabetes day (WDD) is celebrated on November14th every year. It's an important healthcare event for the world. The celebration of World Diabetes Day, emphasizes on the importance of diabetes awareness and prevention. The aim is to spread knowledge and educate more and more people about preventive tips and the impact of diabetes on a person's health. Today marks this year's World Diabetes Day, with the theme "Access to Diabetes Care". The slogan "Know your risk, know your response" supports this year's focus on preventing type 2 diabetes (T2D) and diabetes-related complications. Around 1 in 10 adults worldwide have diabetes, with over 90% of these cases being T2D. Almost half are yet to be diagnosed despite early detection and early treatment being pivotal to the prevention of the serious, potentially life-threatening complications of T2D. By knowing your risk, you can adopt and maintain healthy habits that can delay or even prevent the potential complications of T2D. Find out what you can do to know your risk and know your response by following the link: https://lnkd.in/dcJMsBe #WorldDiabetesDay #Diabetes #KnowYourRisk

Diabetes Awareness Week June 10th -June 16th Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood glucose. Eventually, high blood sugar levels can lead to disorders of the circulatory, nervous and immune systems. Type 2 is more common in older adults. But the increase in the number of children with obesity has led to more cases of type 2 diabetes in younger people. There's no cure for type 2 diabetes. Losing weight, eating well and exercising can help manage the disease. If diet and exercise aren't enough to control blood sugar, diabetes medications or insulin therapy may be recommended. Symptoms of type 2 diabetes often develop slowly. In fact, you can be living with type 2 diabetes for years and not know it. When symptoms are present, they may include but are not limited to: Increased thirst. Frequent urination. Increased hunger. Unintended weight loss. Fatigue. Blurred vision. Slow-healing sores. Frequent infections. Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet. Areas of darkened skin, usually in the armpits and neck. 💙 This World Diabetes Day we'd like to shine the light on some of the issues facing members of the mito community who have mito-related diabetes. 💚 Some community members are paying out-of-pocket for diabetes technologies such as continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and insulin pumps. This adds to the financial pressure already faced by people with mitochondrial disease (mito). We shared this issue with the Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Sport during their inquiry period. In June 2024, the committee released a report from the inquiry. It recommends many important improvements to diabetes prevention and care. Fortunately, the committee recommended the subsidies for CGM be extended to all people with diabetes who rely on insulin. This includes some people with mito-related diabetes. We look forward to working with the Government to ensure that subsidies are expanded to people with mito-related diabetes. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gjT9tqVS Help us continue our work in this area! We'd like to hear about your experiences with continuous glucose monitoring and insulin pumps. If you are using them, please consider sharing your experience with us. We would also like to hear from people who cannot access them. Sharing your story with us will help to shape our work. Together we can make a real impact and improve support for people impacted by mito. Please email rebecca.davis@mito.org.au to learn more about sharing your story. World Diabetes Day – November 14th Today, on World Diabetes Day, we come together to raise awareness about diabetes, a condition affecting 500+ million adults worldwide and steadily rising. With the right knowledge and resources, diabetes is both preventable and manageable, yet it remains a significant global health challenge. 💡 Why Diabetes Awareness Matters: Prevention is Key: Type 2 diabetes accounts for around 90% of diabetes cases and is largely preventable through lifestyle changes. Educating communities on healthy eating, regular exercise, and routine screenings can reduce risk. Early Detection Saves Lives: Many people remain unaware of their condition until complications arise. Early detection and timely intervention can prevent severe health issues like heart disease, kidney damage, and vision loss. 🌟 How We Can Make an Impact: Raise Awareness: Share facts and resources on diabetes prevention and management, helping others recognize symptoms and take proactive steps. Encourage Healthy Habits: Whether at home or in the workplace, support and promote healthy lifestyle choices, like nutritious food options and opportunities for physical activity. Advocate for Access to Care: Advocate for policies and programs that make diabetes medication, monitoring tools, and preventive care accessible and affordable for everyone. Together for a Future Free from Diabetes Complications: This World Diabetes Day, let’s take action to prevent and manage diabetes, support those affected, and champion accessible healthcare for all. A world where diabetes is preventable, manageable, and supported is possible—let’s create it together. #WorldDiabetesDay #DiabetesAwareness #HealthCare #Prevention #Type1Diabetes #Type2Diabetes #HealthEducation #GlobalHealth #DiabetesPrevention #HealthcareForAll #HealthierFuture
