I’m so glad these amazing people are standing right next to me as the BG Be Active team. This photo, taken last week during our last big event of the year, got me reflecting on the journey of building and sustaining BG Be Active over the years. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but it’s been worth every challenge. While building the organization and the team I learned a number of things: 💡 A team reflects its leader. I had to learn to adapt, to listen, and to create an environment where others could thrive in their own ways—not just in mine. 💡 The right people matter more than perfect skills. I’ve never relied on professional HR services. Instead, I’ve found amazing team members in unexpected places—like WOW GYM, for example. The Gym is a very good place to bump into people with a passion for physical activity, shared values, stamina and entrepreneurial minds. 💡 Team culture is built on openness. I’ve worked hard to create a space where we openly discuss issues, dreams, challenges, and plans. We have this safe environment of being able to say - "you know what, I am not really happy with this and this" This openness helps us navigate the tough times and celebrate the good ones. Looking at this photo makes me feel content and proud. Building a team is not easy, but moments like these remind me why it’s so rewarding. #beactive #growth #leader #crazy

🤗 How to keep your team happy at work 🤗 Mr Marmite himself yes but bear with me. I came across this video on TikTok yesterday and immediately felt inspired. I fired it off to a few different people within my team, wider network and even my family. I work really hard on being a good manager, mentor and role model. It’s something very important to me and so I am constantly reading and listening to new ways to support those around me. Having now watched this video half a dozen + times, I’m looking forward to applying: ➡️ The Progress Principle: Not just asking about feeling too challenged, but really understanding if people are challenged enough. A good level of uncomfortable-ness. (Also, as someone who loves lists and writing, I loved the idea of a work diary!) 🫡 Sense of control: This is a huge one for me. I struggle to cope with not being in control. Where I always thought this was a ‘me’ issue, hearing it’s an innate human trait has been enlightening - stepping back and letting people trying it their way. 🥅 A subjective goal: I’d love to hear everyone’s subjective goal. If it’s money - great, money is a great motivator. You want more, you have to work harder. Passion, brilliant. How do we foster that? Impact, my reason. How can I continue to do great work that makes a positive impact? 🥰 People, culture. Perhaps the hardest thing to control but the most important to everyone. How do you foster a positive culture without making it forced or cringe. I’ve worked in some incredible cultures, I met my husband at work, my best friend and daughters god mother, I bought friends over from NZ to work with me. Work has been the source of some incredible relationships and memories, how do we keep this? Anything else you feel is missing from the list? 🌟 Reaching New Heights Together: A Journey Upholding Our Core Values! 🧗♂️🧗♀️ Out of working hours, our team came together for an exhilarating rock climbing adventure, and it was an experience that truly brought our core values—Accountability, Collaboration, Innovation, and Empowerment (A-C-I-E)—to life! 🌄 This wasn’t just any team-building activity—it was a special moment as our Growth Navigators from Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia united, showcasing the power of our diverse team. With the kindness and leadership of Fiona and her husband, who guided us through this new experience, we made it to the top together. 🙌 1. Empowerment: We pushed each other to conquer our fears and reach the summit, embodying the spirit of ownership and autonomy. Everyone was encouraged to take on the challenge, and we all thrived in the supportive atmosphere created by our team. 💪 2. Collaboration: Effective communication and teamwork were key to our success. From navigating the climb to supporting each other every step of the way, the synergy among us was palpable.
