#SSETS #SharingMyResearchWithSSETS 🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 We’re thrilled to share our recently published review on "Food Spoilage Mechanisms, Foodborne Diseases, and Commercial Aspects of Food Preservation and Processing." This paper dives into the journey of our everyday food; how it can spoil, what causes diseases linked to contaminated food, and how innovative methods in preservation and processing are making food safer and longer-lasting. 💡 Why does this matter? Every year, millions of people get sick from eating spoiled or unsafe food. Understanding how food spoils (think bacteria, molds, or chemical changes) helps us develop smarter ways to protect it. We’ve also explored the incredible technologies industries are using to process food so it stays fresh, tasty, and healthy for longer. 👩🍳 Whether you’re a food lover, a health enthusiast, or someone curious about how food gets to your table, this review sheds light on how science and technology are keeping our food safe. We’re passionate about ensuring everyone can enjoy meals that are not just delicious but also free from risks! 🍎🥗 Check it out and let us know your thoughts! https://lnkd.in/eWQDmM7C Together, we can promote safer and healthier food for all. 💚 Thank you to our sponsors and team of Coaches Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Lancaster University British Council National Universities Commission (NUC) Kirk T. World #FoodSafetyDay on 7 June aims to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development. This international day is an opportunity to strengthen efforts to ensure that the food we eat is safe, mainstream food safety in the public agenda and reduce the burden of foodborne diseases globally, or even apply to appropriate #EIC program and develop and commercialize a radical #innovation with possibly disruptive effect on the market. Access to sufficient amounts of safe #food is key to sustaining life and promoting good health. Foodborne illnesses are usually infectious or toxic in nature and often invisible to the plain eye, caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites or chemical substances entering the body through contaminated food or water. Food safety has a critical role in assuring that food stays safe at every stage of the food chain - from production to harvest, processing, storage, distribution, all the way to preparation and consumption. With an estimated 600 million cases of foodborne illnesses annually, unsafe food is a threat to human health and economies, disproportionally affecting vulnerable and marginalized people, especially women and children, populations affected by conflict, and migrants. An estimated 420 000 people around the world die every year after eating contaminated food and children under 5 years of age carry 40% of the foodborne disease burden, with 125 000 deaths every year. Food Safety: Prepare for the Unexpected 🌍 Did you know? One in ten people worldwide fall ill from contaminated food each year. Moreover, 40 percent of the foodborne disease burden is carried by children under 5. (Source: WHO) On this World Food Safety Day 2024, we are proud to highlight our role in the SAFFI (Safe Food for Infants in China and the EU) project, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at ensuring food safety through advanced technology. At Computomics, our expertise in machine learning and data analysis is crucial in predicting and preventing foodborne diseases, enhancing the safety and quality of the global food supply. Together with our partners, we are making significant strides in safeguarding public health and fostering a safer food system for everyone. Let's continue to innovate and collaborate for a healthier future! More 👉 https://lnkd.in/eddrWmfy #WorldFoodSafetyDay #SAFFI #FoodSafety
